Dame Joan Margaret Higgins, DBE FAcSS is a British academic, educator, and public health service manager.
Higgins graduated in social administration from the University of York in 1971 [1] and has held academic posts at the University of Portsmouth, University of Southampton (where she was professor of social policy) and University of Manchester (where she was professor of health policy, from 1992, and director of the Manchester Centre for Healthcare Management 1998–2004). Dame Joan Mary Ruddock, is a British Labour Party politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Lewisham Deptford from 1987 to 2015. Ruddock was Minister of State for Energy at the Department of Energy and Climate Change until 11 May 2010. She stood down at the 2015 general election.

Dame Anna Felicja Dominiczak DBE FRCP FRSE FAHA FMedSci is a Polish-born British medical researcher, Regius Professor of Medicine - the first woman to hold this position, and the Chief Scientist (Health) for the Scottish Government. From 2010 to 2020, Dominiczak was the Vice-Principal and Head of the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. She is an Honorary Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist for the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board, and Health Innovation Champion for the Medical Research Council. From 2013 to 2015, Dominiczak was president of the European Society of Hypertension. She is the current Editor-in-Chief of Precision Medicine, a new journal launched in July 2023.
