Joanna Saleeby Knott is an American businesswoman and former collegiate golfer. She played golf for the NC State Wolfpack and competed in the amateur circuit. Knott is married to U.S. Congressman Brad Knott.

Education and golf career

Knott attended Needham B. Broughton High School before transferring to St. David's School, an Episcopal day school in Raleigh, North Carolina. [1] [2]

She played on the golf team at North Carolina State University. [3] She did not play from 2005 to 2006. [4] From 2006 to 2007, she placed at T36 in the Harder Hall Invitational and played in the NCAA East Regional Championship. [5] That season she was a recipient of the Linda and Leon Marsh Most Improved Award. [1]

From 2007 to 2008, she placed in the Final 64 at the North & South Women's Amateur tournament, 4th at the Women's Eastern Amateur tournament, and finished 19th, earning her first career top 20 finish, at the NMSU Price Invitational. [5] [1] She also shot a career low-one over 73 during the third round of the Lady Tar Heel Invitational. [1] Knott placed 28th at the ACC Championship and tied for 30th place at the Lady Seahawk Invitational. [1] During the 2009 to 2010 season, she played in four tournaments with the team and three tournaments as an individual. [1] In 2009, she paled T17 at the Women's Eastern Amateur tournament. [5] At the Pinehurst Challenge, Knott shot 74 in the second round, finishing in a tie for 38th place at 15 over. [1]

Knott's sister, Joanna Saleeby, also played golf at NC State. [6]

In 2010, she was the runner-up in the Carolinas Young Amateur Women’s Championship in Pinehurst, North Carolina. [7]

Fashion career

Knott worked as a sales associate, buyer, and retail manager. [8] In 2018, she opened Monkee's of Raleigh, a high-end women's boutique in the North Hills neighborhood in Raleigh. [9] [10] In 2020, North Hills was the site of protests associated with the Black Lives Matter movement. [11] Some stores in the neighborhood were looted, and while Knott was heckled by protestors, her store was not damaged in the protests. [11]

Personal life

She is married to Brad Knott, a Republican U.S. Congressman for North Carolina's 13th District, and has two children. [9]

Knott is a conservative and a Christian. [9]

The North Carolina–NC State rivalry, also known as the State-Carolina game, Carolina–State Game, North Carolina–NC State game, NCSU–UNC game, and other similar permutations, is an ongoing series of athletic competitions between the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Tar Heels and North Carolina State University Wolfpack. Charlotte E. Glutting (1910–1996) was an American amateur golfer. Glutting played on the U.S. national team in three consecutive Curtis Cup competitions during the 1930s. She played a particularly pivotal role in helping the U.S. win the 1934 and 1938 competitions. During her career in golf, Glutting won 10 amateur titles.

The 2015–16 NC State Wolfpack women's basketball team represented North Carolina State University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Wolfpack, led by third-year head coach Wes Moore, played their home games at Needham B. Broughton High School with 2 games at PNC Arena due to renovations at Reynolds Coliseum and were members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They finished the season 20–11, 10–6 in ACC play to finish in sixth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the ACC women's tournament to Syracuse. Despite having 20 wins and being projected as a tournament team, they were not invited to the NCAA tournament, the team voted not to accept an invitation to the WNIT.
