Jaamacadda Jobkey orJobkey University (JU), founded in 2011, is a university located in Somalia with its main campus in Mogadishu, Somalia's capital city. [1] It is a chartered university and is approved by the Somali Federal Government and the Ministry of Higher Education and Culture. Its motto states, 'Success Starts Here'. [2]

It has an enrollment range of 1,000-1,999 students in its coeducational higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion. Its admission rate is between 60 and 70%, making it a somewhat selective Somali higher education organization. [3]

The idea of launching the university was advanced by a group of intellectuals and other diaspora people. After more than three years of preparation, the university became operational at the end of 2011. The university has two campuses in Mogadishu, Banaadir: one is in Jowhar and the other one is in Beledweyne. [3]

It was established in 1971, but was "officially" founded in 1954. It closed in 1990. After closing down for a number of years, the university reopened in August 2014.

The May 2010 Mogadishu bombings were an attack at a mosque near the Bakaara market in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, on 1 May 2010. The bombs killed at least 39 people and injured around 70 others.

The predominant religion in Somalia is Islam, with tiny minorities of Christians, traditional African religions and others.

The 2011 Mogadishu bombing occurred on 4 October 2011, when a suicide bomber drove a truck into the gate of the Transitional Federal Government's ministerial complex in Mogadishu, Somalia. The resulting explosion killed 100 people and injured over 110 others. Al-Shabaab, an Islamist group, claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack is reported to be the largest since Al-Shabaab launched an insurgency in Somalia in early 2007. It also follows the withdrawal of Al-Shabaab's forces from the area in August after an AMISOM intervention to bring aid to the country during a season of drought.

The 2013 Mogadishu Turkish embassy attack occurred on 27 July 2013 when al-Shaabab militants attacked the Turkish embassy in the Somali capital of Mogadishu, killing 3 people and injuring 9 others. At around 5:00 p.m. a minivan rigged with explosives detonated near the embassy compound. The explosion was followed by three armed militants attempting to storm the compound on foot, but they were repelled and killed by Turkish and Somali security guards.

The August 2020 Mogadishu bombing was a suicide car bombing on 8 August 2020 at the gates of the 12th April Army Brigade military base close to the recently reopened Mogadishu sports stadium in the Warta Nabadda district of Mogadishu. The attack killed at least eight people and wounded fourteen others. The jihadist group al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.
