John Brown Steven (10 May 1935 –6 April 2020),known as Jock Steven,was a Scottish rugby union player. He was the 107th President of the Scottish Rugby Union. [1]
Steven was educated at Madras College and played rugby union for the school team. His family farmed at Dunino on the East Neuk of Fife. [2]
On leaving school,he played for Madras College FP and captained the side in 1958-59 season and 1961-62 season. [3]
Steven represented the combined North of Scotland District side in their 1964 match against New Zealand. [3]
Steven's closest time to being capped for Scotland was when he was an unused travelling reserve for the international side in a Five Nations match. [4] He was not used. [3]
He did play for the Barbarians in their 1962 tour of Wales. [3]
He coached Madras College FP and the combined North of Scotland District side. He later coached the Scotland U18 team.
Steven was the Madras College FP president from 1970 to 1975. [4]
He joined the SRU as Midlands District representative in 1976. [2]
He was tour manager of the Scotland Development XV in their 1988 tour of Zimbabwe. [3]
Steven became the 107th President of the Scottish Rugby Union. He served the standard one year from 1993 to 1994. [1] [5]
Steven had 3 brothers:- Bill,Alan and Robert. In one memorable game in 1957 all 4 brothers,including Jock,made the Madras College FP first XV. [3]

Madras College Former Pupils Rugby Football Club is a rugby union side based in St Andrews in Fife,Scotland. They play in Caledonia Regional League Division 2. They play at Station Park,St Andrews and field two men's fifteens each weekend,as well as a women's team.
The University of St Andrews Rugby Football Club is an affiliated member of the University of St Andrews Athletic Union in Fife,Scotland. The club runs four men's and two women's teams,which play in the university leagues.

Harris Academy FPRFC is a rugby union club based in Dundee,Scotland,that was founded for the former pupils of Harris Academy on 5 November 1926. The club ceased to exist throughout the latter part of the 1990s and the early 2000s due to dwindling numbers. However,the club was reformed in August 2007 by former players combined with a large senior squad of players who had left the school the previous season. Those places had had a successful tour to Latvia in which they beat a local club side before beinvolved beaten by a Latvian under 19 select squad.
