Medical and reproductive health experts,including the American Medical Association and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists,say that the reference to a fetal heartbeat is medically inaccurate and misleading,for a conceptus is not called a fetus until eight weeks after fertilization,as well as that at four weeks after fertilization,the embryo has no heart,only a group of cells which will become a heart. Medical professionals advise that a true fetal heartbeat cannot be detected until around 17 to 20 weeks of gestation when the chambers of the heart have become sufficiently developed.

Keturah Joy Herron is an American politician from Kentucky. They are a Democrat and represent District 35 in the Kentucky Senate. They are only the second out member of the Kentucky General Assembly following Ernesto Scorsone,former state senator,who came out while in office in 2003. After Scorsone left the legislature in 2008,there was no LGBTQ+ representation in either chamber until Herron.
The One Hundred Thirty-Fifth Ohio General Assembly is the current meeting of the Ohio state legislature,composed of the Ohio Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives. It convened in Columbus,Ohio on January 3,2023,and is scheduled to adjourn on December 31,2024. The apportionment of legislative districts was based on the 2020 United States census and the 2022 redistricting plan. The Ohio Republican Party retained the majority in both the Ohio Senate and Ohio House of Representatives.
The 2024 Ohio House of Representatives election was held on November 5,2024,to elect representatives in all 99 districts of the Ohio House of Representatives. Members were elected in single-member constituencies to two-year terms. These elections were held concurrently with various federal and state elections,including for U.S. President,U.S. Senate,and the Ohio Senate. This election was held under different districts than the 2022 Ohio House of Representatives election because in September 2023,the Ohio Redistricting Commission approved a new set of maps for both chambers of the Ohio General Assembly. Unlike the 5 previous district maps adopted by the redistricting commission,the newest map was upheld by the Ohio Supreme Court in November 2023,allowing it to go into effect from the 2024 election through the 2030 election.
In 2022 California passed The California Age-Appropriate Design Code Act or AB 2273 which requires websites that are likely to be used by minors to estimate visitors ages to give them some amount of privacy control and on March 23,2023,Utah Governor Spencer Cox signed SB 152 and HB 311 collective known as the Utah Social Media Regulation Act which requires age verification and if they are under 18 they have to get parental consent before making an account on any social media platform. Since then multiple bills have been introduced or passed in multiple states however very few gone into effect mainly due to court challenges including both laws in California and Utah.
