Barbara Jean Lee is an American politician who served as a U.S. representative from California from 1998 to 2025. A member of the Democratic Party,Lee represents California's 12th congressional district,which is based in Oakland and covers most of the northern part of Alameda County. According to the Cook Partisan Voting Index,it is one of the nation's most Democratic districts,with a rating of D+40.

Lawlor resigned from the legislature on January 4,2011 to serve in Dan Malloy's administration as undersecretary for criminal justice policy and planning at the Office of Policy and Management.

A six-week abortion ban,also called a "fetal heartbeat bill" by proponents,is a law in the United States which makes abortion illegal as early as six weeks gestational age,which is when proponents claim that a "fetal heartbeat" can be detected. Medical and reproductive health experts,including the American Medical Association and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists,say that the reference to a fetal heartbeat is medically inaccurate and misleading,for a conceptus is not called a fetus until eight weeks after fertilization,as well as that at four weeks after fertilization,the embryo has no heart,only a group of cells which will become a heart. Medical professionals advise that a true fetal heartbeat cannot be detected until around 17 to 20 weeks of gestation when the chambers of the heart have become sufficiently developed.

Anti-LGBTQ curriculum laws are laws approved by various U.S. states that limit the discussion of sexuality and gender identity in public schools. In theory,these laws mainly apply to sex ed courses,but they can also be applied to other parts of the school curriculum as well as to extracurricular activities such as sports and organizations such as gay–straight alliances. In July 2022,a wave of anti-LGBT curriculum resurgence saw ten such laws beginning to take effect in six different states. Some states enacting these new laws appear to have mirrored similar laws from other states.

The Ohio Fair School Funding Plan is bipartisan legislation introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives as House Bill 1 by Republican Rep. Jamie Callender and Democratic Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney. The bill creates a new school financing system for K-12 education in the State of Ohio,overhauling the state's school funding system that the Ohio Supreme Court found unconstitutional four times beginning with the original DeRolph decision in 1997. HB 1 was signed into law on July 1,2021 as a part of the biennial state operating budget.
Keturah Joy Herron is an American politician from Kentucky. They are a Democrat and represent District 35 in the Kentucky Senate. When elected in 2022,they were the first out LGBTQ+ member in the Kentucky House of Representatives. They are only the second out member of the Kentucky General Assembly following Ernesto Scorsone,former state senator,who came out while in office in 2003. After Scorsone left the legislature in 2008,there was no LGBTQ+ representation in either chamber until Herron.
The One Hundred Thirty-Fifth Ohio General Assembly is the current meeting of the Ohio state legislature,composed of the Ohio Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives. It convened in Columbus,Ohio on January 3,2023,and is scheduled to adjourn on December 31,2024. The apportionment of legislative districts was based on the 2020 United States census and the 2022 redistricting plan. The Ohio Republican Party retained the majority in both the Ohio Senate and Ohio House of Representatives.
The 2024 Ohio House of Representatives election was held on November 5,2024,to elect representatives in all 99 districts of the Ohio House of Representatives. Members were elected in single-member constituencies to two-year terms. These elections were held concurrently with various federal and state elections,including for U.S. President,U.S. Senate,and the Ohio Senate. This election was held under different districts than the 2022 Ohio House of Representatives election because in September 2023,the Ohio Redistricting Commission approved a new set of maps for both chambers of the Ohio General Assembly. Unlike the 5 previous district maps adopted by the redistricting commission,the newest map was upheld by the Ohio Supreme Court in November 2023,allowing it to go into effect from the 2024 election through the 2030 election.
In 2022 California passed The California Age-Appropriate Design Code Act or AB 2273 which requires websites that are likely to be used by minors to estimate visitors ages to give them some amount of privacy control and on March 23,2023,Utah Governor Spencer Cox signed SB 152 and HB 311 collective known as the Utah Social Media Regulation Act which requires age verification and if they are under 18 they have to get parental consent before making an account on any social media platform. Since then multiple bills have been introduced or passed in multiple states however very few gone into effect mainly due to court challenges including both laws in California and Utah.
