Career

Born in Hemsworth, [2] Marsh spent his early career with Hemsworth Colliery, Brierley and South Kirkby Colliery. [3] He joined Bradford City from South Kirkby Colliery in November 1919. [2] He made 24 league appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals; he also scored once in 3 FA Cup matches. [4] He left the club in August 1922 to join Castleford Town. [2]

The club were formed as The Faith Street Football Club but were known as South Kirkby Wednesday by 1905 at the latest, when they were competing in the FA Cup alongside local rivals South Kirkby Colliery and a fledgling Frickley Colliery. It is not known for certain where in South Kirkby the club played, though their ground was used by the Hemsworth and District Football Association to host cup finals and inter-league challenge games.
