Joe Ramsey (born January 3, 1943) [1] is a former college basketball player and coach. Ramsey attended Southern Illinois University and played on the school's basketball team. He was later inducted in the Saluki Hall of Fame. [2] The Baltimore Bullets selected Ramsey with the 96th selection in the 1965 NBA draft. [1] He was the head basketball coach at Oklahoma, Millikin, and Blackburn.

Coaching career

Ramsey served as a graduate assistant coach for SIU. He later was an assistant coach at Kansas State, and Oklahoma. [3] [4] He was the head basketball coach at Oklahoma, from 1973 to 1975. He took over the program after recently hired head coach Les Lane died of a heart attack. In 1975, Oklahoma fired Ramsey after a 31–21 record. [5] He later became the head coach at Millikin, from 1975 to 1996, where the Big Blue made two NCAA Division III men's basketball tournament appearances won two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championships. [6] While at Millikin he also coached golf. [7] He later coached Blackburn, from 1998 to 2003. In his final season the Beavers won the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship. Ramsey was named the conference's coach of the year. [8] He has a head coaching record of 383–335.

Billy Duane Tubbs was an American men's college basketball coach. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native was the head coach of his alma mater Lamar University, the University of Oklahoma (1980–1994) and Texas Christian University (1994–2002). His first head coaching job — from 1971-72 through 1972-73 — was at Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas, where his teams were 12–16 and 19–8. From there he went to the University of North Texas to serve as assistant coach under Gene Robbins and for one year under Bill Blakeley.

He served as the head men's basketball coach at Siena Heights University (1977–1985), Eastern Michigan University (1986–1996), the University of California, Berkeley (1996–2008), and Rice University (2008–2014), compiling a career coaching record of 615–517. He won the most games (185) of any head coach in the history of the Eastern Michigan Eagles men's basketball program and was named Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year three times. As the head coach of the California Golden Bears, he won the Pac-10 Coach of the Year and had a 219–154 record (.587). Braun currently is a studio and game basketball analyst for the Pac-12 Network.

Clarence Eugene Iba is a former American college basketball coach. He was previously the Pittsburg State Gorillas men's basketball coach until 2010. He was head coach at Houston Baptist from 1977 to 1985, Baylor from 1985 to 1992, and Pittsburg State from 1995 to 2010. He is the son of college basketball coach Clarence Iba and nephew of college basketball coach Hank Iba.

The James Madison Dukes men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball program representing James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The school, a member of Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, joined the Sun Belt Conference on July 1, 2022, after having been a member of the Colonial Athletic Association since that league's establishment in 1979. The Dukes are led by head coach Mark Byington. The Dukes play their home games at the on-campus Atlantic Union Bank Center which seats 8,500 fans and opened in November 2020. The Dukes have appeared six times in the NCAA tournament, most recently in 2024.

The Milwaukee Panthers men's basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Horizon League for the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Wantland suggested it for the school's mascot. The official colors of the teams are bronze and blue, which the institution adopted in 1895. The Bronchos compete in the NCAA's Division II and in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association in all sports except women's rowing, which competes in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The Minnesota State Mavericks are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Minnesota State University, Mankato. The school's athletic program includes 21 varsity sports teams. More than 600 students participate each year in athletics for the university. Most of the university's athletic teams compete at the NCAA Division II level in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The men's and women's ice hockey teams compete at the Division I level, respectively in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) and Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).
