Johan Erik Liebert Larsson is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a right back for Allsvenskan club IF Elfsborg. Beginning his career with IF Elfsborg in 2010, he represented Brøndby IF and Guingamp between 2015 and 2019 before returning to IF Elfsborg in 2020. A full international since 2014, he has won six caps for the Sweden national team.

In 2006 IF Elfsborg, the Swedish football club located in Borås, won their first national title since 1961, thanks to a dramatic finish to the season, where Elfsborg hit top form at the end of the year, sealing the title thanks to Joakim Sjöhage's goal against Djurgården. When Djurgården's claim for a penalty was waved off in stoppage time, Elfsborg overhauled AIK by a single point.

IF Elfsborg had their best points average season, in spite of not repeating its 2006 title. Finishing just one point adrift of Kalmar FF, Elfsborg had cemented its place as one of the top Swedish sides, being further boosted by Anders Svensson turning down a lucrative offer from Shaktar Donetsk during the course of the season.

IF Elfsborg had another season where they stayed in the top four for the fifth consecutive season. Being tipped for title glory, Elfsborg was nowhere near such a feat, but thanks to Denni Avdić and his sensational season, scoring 19 league goals a European qualification was granted once more. The 2012 season was Malmö FF's 101st in existence, their 77th season in Allsvenskan and their 12th consecutive season in the league. They competed in Allsvenskan where they finished in 3rd position. Malmö FF also participated in one competition in which the club continued playing in for the 2013 season, 2012–13 Svenska Cupen. The season was Rikard Norlings first full season as the club's manager as he joined the club halfway through the 2011 season. Ulrich Vinzents was appointed new club captain as the former captain, Daniel Andersson, announced that he would prioritise his coaching career as one of Malmö FF's three assistant managers. However, injury problems for the club's defender saw Andersson playing ten out of twelve league matches before the break for UEFA Euro 2012 and thus also holding the captaincy, Andersson continued to play sporadically after the summer break. Appointed captain Vinzents was injured in an early stage of the season and Miiko Albornoz was brought into the starting eleven, Albornoz held the position until the end of the season. Due to these circumstances third captain Jiloan Hamad held the captaincy for the majority of the matches throughout the season.

Hans "Hasse" Karlsson was a Swedish footballer who played as a defender. He made 119 Allsvenskan appearances for Djurgårdens IF and scored 29 goals. A former manager of IF Elfsborg, IFK Göteborg and the Sweden women's national football team, he died in June 2008.

The 2016 Allsvenskan, part of the 2016 Swedish football season, is the 92nd season of Allsvenskan since its establishment in 1924. The fixtures were released on 9 December 2015 and it included a meeting between the two most recent champions IFK Norrköping and Malmö FF as the opening match, a replay of the last round of the previous season. The season started on 2 April 2016 and ended in November 2016.
