Personal life

He is the son of Jack Hynes and the grandson of Mayor John Hynes. [3] [4] [2] [5] He has a son, John B. Hynes IV. [1] He is married to Tracee Hynes and lives in South Boston. [4] His cousin is Barry T. Hynes. [6]

Hynes was graduated from Harvard College and co-captained the 1980 hockey team there. [2] He doubts the dangers of climate change. [5] [7]

Career

He worked for 10 years as the CEO and managing partner of Gale International [8] where he was part of the master development team of New Songdo City in South Korea. [9] He then left to found Boston Global Investors. [9] [8]

As "a major force in the metamorphosis of the Boston waterfront," [9] Hynes negotiated the land swap deal that brought about the current Our Lady of Good Voyage Shrine and the Seaport Square. [1] [2] [7] His Seaport District land deal in 2006, worth more than $200 million, was by far the most expensive in Boston history. [10]

Our Lady of Good Voyage, also known as the Seaport Shrine, is a Roman Catholic church located at 51 Seaport Boulevard in the Seaport District of Boston and in the Archdiocese of Boston. The shrine has 250 seats and holds Mass twice daily and three times on Sundays. The original chapel was located a short distance away and was built to serve the fisherman and dockworkers in what was then an industrial neighborhood.

The Evelyn Moakley Bridge is a bridge that connects Downtown Boston to the Seaport District. It was named for the late wife of Congressman Joe Moakley on October 4, 1996, shortly after her death. At the eastern end of the bridge is the John Joseph Moakley Federal Courthouse and the Seaport Shrine.

John B. "Jack" Hynes Jr. was a newscaster in Boston, Massachusetts. He was known as the "Dean of Boston TV News" and broadcast from 1957 to 2006. In 2008, Hynes was inducted into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
