Swindon Town Football Club is a professional football club based in Swindon, Wiltshire, England. The team, known as the "Robins", currently compete in EFL League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system; their home colours are red and white. Since 1896 the club has played home matches at the County Ground, which now has a capacity of 15,547. The 2010 Football League One play-off final was an association football match which was played on 29 May 2010 at Wembley Stadium, London, between Millwall and Swindon Town to determine the third and final team to gain promotion from Football League One to the Football League Championship. The top two teams of the 2009–10 Football League One season, Norwich City and Leeds United, gained automatic promotion to the Championship, while the teams placed from third to sixth place in the table took part in play-off semi-finals; the winners of these semi-finals competed for the final place for the 2010–11 season in the Championship. Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town were the losing semi-finalists, having been defeated by Swindon and Millwall respectively.

The 2011–12 season was Swindon Town's first season in the League Two since 2006–07. Under the management of former AC Milan, Lazio, Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday and West Ham United footballer Paolo Di Canio, Swindon were successful in winning their first trophy since 1996 after securing the League Two championship. Town were also runners-up in the Football League Trophy, losing to Chesterfield at Wembley Stadium. The club also competed in the FA Cup, beating Premier League outfit Wigan Athletic and the League Cup.
Leigh Andrew Bedwell is an English professional footballer who played for Swindon Town between 2012 and 2014 as a goalkeeper. After leaving Swindon Town, Bedwell dropped into non-league football with Banbury United and Didcot Town, for whom he signed in June 2015.
The 2021–22 season is Swindon Town's 143rd year in their history and first season back in League Two since the 2019–20 season, following relegation from League One. The club will also compete in the FA Cup, EFL Trophy and the EFL Cup. The season covers the period from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.
