John Baptist Walusimbi is a Ugandan politician and engineer who served as the Katikkiro of the Kingdom of Buganda from 2008 to 2013.
Walusimbi was appointed as Katikkiro of Buganda on 1 January 2008 and served in this capacity until 2013. [1] He was considered relatively moderate and apolitical compared to the Katikkiro Muliika. [2] In 2008,he called for peace between the Mengo and central governments. [3]
Walusimbi agreed to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni's request for him to meet with the Ssabanyala of Banyala and the Ssabaluuli of Buruuli,which led to some Bugandan officials and loyalists to accuse Walusimbi of advancing Museveni's political interests. [2]
During his tenure as Katikkiro,the Kingdom of Buganda,the 2009 riots took place,leaving many dead and injured. [2] The riots caused destruction in Kampala and led to the government closing CBS FM,the kingdom's official radio station. [2]
He founded the Omumuli initiative to improve household incomes through agricultural work. [2] He also designed projects to improve Buganda's revenue base,including the Muganzirwazza commercial plaza at Katwe. [2]
Walusimbi was made a Knight of the Grand Collar of the Royal Order of Merit of Prince Uchicho by King Julio I of the Afro-Bolivians. [4]
His four-year term was extended another year. [5]
In 2021,he was removed from the Register of Engineers by the Ugandan Engineers Registration Board,preventing him to continue working as an engineer. [6]
In September 2024,news reports stated that Walusimbi was facing jailtime for failing to pay back debts owed to Micheal Hadoke,a city money lender. [7] The baliffs demanded a total debt collection of sh 305,350,000. [8]

Ignatius Kangave Musaazi (1905–1990) formed the first political party in Uganda,namely the Uganda National Congress (UNC) party on 2 March 1952. Katikkiro is the official title of the head of cabinet and government in Buganda under the Kabaka of the Kingdom of Buganda. The Afro-Bolivian Royal House is a ceremonial monarchy recognized as part of the Plurinational State of Bolivia,which does not interfere with the system of the Presidential republic in force within the country. Butikkiro is the official residence for the Katikkiro of Buganda in Uganda. it derives its name from the official residence Katikkiro and it is where he hosts the official guests when not at his office in Bulange building. Butikkiro also acts as the final confirmation spot of any person appointed to the office of Katikkiro it is where one has to keep or reach with the royal mace (Ddamula) after it has been handed over to him. If the Katikkiro (designate) fails to deliver Ddamula at Butikkiro,he then cannot rule on behalf of the Kabaka
Prince Alexander David Ssimbwa was a Ugandan royal,diplomat,and revolutionary. He was born a prince of the Kingdom of Buganda as the son of King Daudi Cwa II. In the 1960s,he was arrested during the Mengo Crisis for allegedly conspiring against President Milton Obote. Following his release from prison in 1971,Ssimbwa served as the Ugandan Ambassador to China during the administration of President Yoweri Museveni.
