John Clarkin (born 1872) was a Scottish footballer. His regular position was as a forward. He was born in Neilston. He played for Neilston, Bootle, Glasgow Thistle, Newton Heath and Blackpool.
Neilston-born Clarkin signed for Blackpool from Newton Heath in June 1896. He made his debut for the club in their first-ever match in the Football League, on 5 September 1896 (see Blackpool F.C. season 1896–97). He went on to appear in 28 of the club's 30 games that season, scoring eight goals.
The following season, 1897–98, Clarkin made 26 appearances and scored five goals.
James Hampson was an English professional footballer. He spent eleven seasons at Blackpool, where he remains record goalscorer with 252 goals in 373 games, and is still regarded as one of the best centre forwards to play for the club.

William Hood was an English footballer who usually played as an inside right, but was also often used as an outside forward or a wing half. Born in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, he played for Newton Heath, making his debut at left-half in a Football Alliance match at home to Lincoln City on 21 November 1891; Hood scored twice in a 10–1 win, the first time the club had scored 10 goals in a league match. Hood finished the season with five goals in 15 Alliance appearances as Newton Heath finished second behind Nottingham Forest and were subsequently elected to the Football League for the 1892–93 season.
