John Gagliardi, is an Australian journalist, businessman, author and lobbyist.

Career

Gagliardi was the founding Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Christian Outreach Centre's Christian Heritage College in Brisbane, Queensland, established in 1986. [1]

During his media career, Galiardi was the editor of the Townsville Bulletin; Chief of Staff of National Nine TV News in Brisbane and Assistant Features Editor of The Telegraph which was for many years Brisbane's afternoon tabloid. [2] [3]

In 1995 he was one of the founders of the Australian Christian Lobby, then known as the Australian Christian Coalition. [4] [2] [5] [6]

Gagliardi is currently the Director of Development at the Haggai Institute, Australia. [1]

Matthias Media is an Australian evangelical Christian publisher. The business was founded in 1988, and grew out of the ministry of Phillip Jensen and editor Tony Payne at St Matthias, Centennial Park, Sydney under the name St Matthias Press and Tapes. Many resources now published by Matthias Media were developed as part of the ministry of Campus Bible Study at the University of New South Wales. Since then the company has grown under the banner "Resources for growing Christians" and is now incorporated as a non-profit company under the name Matthias Media. The Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) is a conservative right-wing Christian advocacy organisation based in Canberra.

FamilyVoice Australia is a conservative Christian organisation. It was known as Festival of Light Australia from 1973 to 2008, and under the leadership of Rev Fred Nile, it rose to public prominence in the 1990's for its opposition to LGBT rights. Festival of Light's stated mission was to be "a Christian ministry to the nation, promoting true family values in the light of the wisdom of God". The name was changed to FamilyVoice Australia on 1 July 2008 in order to eliminate confusion with the many other festivals or groups around the world called "Festival of Light" or "Festival of Lights". Lyle Shelton is an Australian conservative political activist. He served as managing director of the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) from 2013 to 2018. He was one of the leaders of the "No" campaign in the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey. In 2018, he resigned from the ACL to become federal communications director of the Australian Conservatives political party. Shelton has been employed by Oodgeroo MP Mark Robinson since at least August 2019. In April 2021, Fred Nile announced he would retire in November 2021, nominating Shelton to replace him for the balance of his term ending in March 2023. This endorsement was withdrawn in September 2021, with Nile deciding to serve the remainder of his parliamentary term. On 27 May 2022, Family First National Chairman Tom Kenyon announced that Shelton had been appointed as the National Director of the party.

The suicide of Tyrone Unsworth occurred on 22 November 2016, in Brisbane, Australia. Unsworth, a 13-year-old boy, died by suicide after years of bullying motivated by his homosexuality. His death garnered considerable national attention in Australia, as well as international attention.

John Brown Gribble was an Australian minister of religion, noted for his missionary work among Aboriginal people in New South Wales, Western Australia and Queensland. His appointment in Western Australia was cancelled within a year due to hostility from squatters and others who had Aboriginal employees.
