John Harvey was a Scottish footballer who played for Sunderland and Newcastle United as an inside right. [1]
Having moved south from Scottish club Renton (where he had won two Glasgow Merchants Charity Cups) alongside Johnny Campbell and David Hannah, [2] Harvey made his debut for Sunderland on 18 January 1890 against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup first round; his team lost the game 4–2 after extra time at Leamington Road. [3] Harvey played for Sunderland during two spells from 1889 to 1891 and 1892 to 1897, with a short stay at Clyde in between. Overall he made 109 league and FA Cup appearances for the Roker Park side, scoring 11 goals, and in 1893 won the Football League Championship [4] (the club also won the title in 1895, but he played only six times that season). Harvey joined Sunderland's local rivals Newcastle United in 1897, [6] again with Johnny Campbell, and made his debut against Woolwich Arsenal F.C. on 4 September 1897 in a 4–1 win. [7] He retired from football in 1900 to become a trainer at St James' Park, where he had made 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 goals. [8]

The Tyne–Wear derby, also known as the North East derby, is a local derby between the association football clubs Sunderland and Newcastle United. The derby is an inter-city rivalry in North East England with the two cities of Sunderland and Newcastle upon Tyne just 12 miles (19 km) apart. Sunderland play their home matches at the Stadium of Light whilst Newcastle play their home matches at St. James’ Park. The first meeting of the two sides took place in 1883, with the first competitive fixture being an FA Cup tie in 1888 which Sunderland won 2–0 over Newcastle East End.
William Fagan was a Scottish footballer, who played for Celtic, Preston North End and Liverpool.
Albert Shepherd was an English professional footballer who played as a forward. He began his career with amateur side Bolton Temperance before signing for First Division club Blackburn Rovers but was released a year later having made no appearances. He instead joined Second Division side Bolton Wanderers and was eventually handed his professional debut in 1904. Shepherd won promotion in his first full season with Bolton and the following year he finished as the top goalscorer in the First Division. His form led to call ups for the Football League representative XI and the England national football team, scoring on his debut for both sides in 1906.
The 1995–96 season was Manchester United's fourth season in the Premier League, and their 21st consecutive season in the top division of English football.
