John Hennigan was an Irish politician and farmer.
He was an unsuccessful independent candidate in the Sligo–Mayo East constituency at the 1922 general election. [1] He was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a Cumann na nGaedheal Teachta Dála (TD) for the Leitrim–Sligo constituency at the 1923 general election. [2] He was re-elected at each subsequent election until lost his seat at the 1933 general election. [1] He was a member of Sligo County Council from 1920 to 1942. [3]

He lost his seat at the 1969 general election but was again elected at the 1973 general election and was re-elected at the 1977 general election. He did not contest the 1981 general election.

He was re-elected at every subsequent general election until he retired from politics at the 1969 general election. He was a member of Sligo County Council from 1925 until his death in 1972.
