John J. Burns (born 1959) is an American politician who served as the Attorney General of Alaska from 2010 to 2012. [1] [2]
He was appointed by Sean Parnell [1] in December 2010 and resigned on 2 January 2012. [3]
He was preceded by Daniel S. Sullivan,who went on to become a U.S. Senator. Burns was succeeded in office by Michael Geraghty.

He succeeded Sarah Palin in July 2009,and was elected governor in his own right in 2010 with 59.06% of the vote,as the largest percentage margin of any Alaska governor since the state's admission into the United States. In 2014,he narrowly lost his bid for re-election and returned to work in the private sector. He is a member of the Republican Party.
