John McPhail (born 30 December 1989) is a wheelchair basketball player from Australia. He was a member of the Australia men's national wheelchair basketball team that competed at the 2010 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship, [1] [2] winning the gold medal. [3] He was a member of the Rollers team that competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. [4]
He comes from Peakhurst, New South Wales, Australia. [5] He went to the United States to complete social work studies at University of Texas at Arlington. He and his wife Jillian married in 2019 and reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. In 2021, he is a Sales and Marketing Representative in Dallas, Texas.
He is a 3.0 point player. McPhail's wheelchair basketball career started in 2004 with the New South Wales junior team. [6] He was a member of the Australia men's national wheelchair basketball team which won the gold medal at the 2010 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship.
Whilst studying the United States, he played for the University of Texas at Arlington's Movin’ Mavs wheelchair basketball team. In 2015, he played with the NWBL Dallas Wheelchair Mavericks and won the national title. He has played professionally in Germany with Köln 99ers (2015–16) and Rhine River Rhinos (2016–17).
In 2020, he was playing with the Sydney Metro Blue Hornets. After years of hard work, he was selected to the Australian Rollers Squad that will play at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. [7]
At the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, the Rollers finished fifth with a win/loss record of 4-4. [8] [9]
Bradley John Ness, OAM is an Australian wheelchair basketballer. He won a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing and silver medals at 2004 Athens and 2012 London Paralympics. He was selected as the Australian flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. In December 2023, Ness was appointed the Head Coach of the Rollers - Australia men's national wheelchair basketball team.
Michael Mathew Hartnett, OAM is an Australian wheelchair basketball player who won a gold medal at the 2008 Summer Paralympics and the 2010 and 2014 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship.
Tristan Malcolm Knowles, OAM is an Australian wheelchair basketball player and won a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics and silver medals at the 2004 Athens and 2012 London Paralympics. He was a member of the Roller at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, his sixth Games.

Michael Auprince, is an Australian swimmer and wheelchair basketball player. He set several swimming records and was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London in swimming, where he won gold and bronze medals. He represented the Rollers team at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Michael is currently on the coaching staff of the University of Alabama Wheelchair Basketball team.

Tom O'Neill-Thorne is a 3.0 point wheelchair basketball player from Australia. He was part of the Rollers team that won the 2014 Incheon World Wheelchair Basketball Championship. He was a member of the Rollers at the 2024 Summer Paralympics, his third Games.
The UT Arlington Movin' Mavs men's wheelchair basketball team, previously known as the UTA Freewheelers, is the men's college wheelchair basketball team representing the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). Established in 1976 as the UTA Freewheelers, the team played at the club level against other colleges and universities in Texas during the 1970s and 1980s. It has played under the auspices of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) since 1988, when the team was renamed the Movin' Mavs. Its inaugural coach, from 1976 until 2008, was Jim Hayes. The team was coached by Doug Garner from 2008 until 2022 when he retired. In fall of 2022, Aaron Gouge was hired as the new head coach for the team.
