John Sakamoto

John Sakamoto is a Canadian journalist and music critic. He is best known for the Anti-Hit List column, which has appeared on canoe.ca and in eye , the Toronto Sun and the Toronto Star . In Anti-Hit List, Sakamoto compiles a list of songs that are under the radar screen of popular music. The column also includes the Week's Best Invented Words and Ponder It. He has been writing the Anti-Hit List for more than 15 years. [1] He served as executive producer of canoe.ca's entertainment section, Jam! , [2] from 1996 to 2002.

Sakamoto released his very own CD compilation, titled John Sakamota's Anit-Hit List in 2003. The CD features 10 tracks, which included artists Sharon Jones, Shawn Amos, The Russian Futurists, Border, and An Pierle. [3]

In 2005, the Anti-Hit List expanded into a biweekly podcast.

Platinum Blonde is a Canadian rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in 1982. At the beginning of its most commercially successful period in the mid-1980s, the band consisted of Mark Holmes on vocals and bass, Sergio Galli on guitar, and Chris Steffler on drums. Clumsy is the second studio album by the Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace, released on January 23, 1997 by Columbia Records. The album is the band's most successful to date, achieving diamond status in Canada and strong sales in other countries, including platinum status in the U.S. for another 1 million sales. In 2007, it ranked No. 76 on "The Top 100 Canadian Albums" by Bob Mersereau and No. 33 on The Top 102 New Rock Albums of All Time by 102.1 The Edge. The album features five hit singles: "Superman's Dead", "Automatic Flowers", "Clumsy", "4am" and "Carnival". Each single except "Carnival" has a music video.

5th Projekt are a cinematic rock ensemble from Toronto, Ontario, Canada formed in 2003. Primary songwriters and composers are Tara Rice, and Sködt D. McNalty. Jeremy Oram (drums) and Jean-François Kardinal (bass) joined the band in 2010.

"Us Placers" is the debut song by American supergroup Child Rebel Soldier, a musical collaboration consisting of American hip-hop artists Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams. It was released as the third song on the track-listing of West's 2007 mixtape Can't Tell Me Nothing. The song was produced by Fiasco and samples the 2006 song "The Eraser" by Thom Yorke. On "Us Placers," the trio speak on the entrapments of fame. Having been released on a free mixtape, the song did not enter charts but became an online hit and received strong reviews from music critics.

Paul Humphrey was a Canadian singer-songwriter and musician who played keyboards and guitar and was best known as the lead singer for the 1980s Canadian new wave band Blue Peter. Humphrey had also been the leader of The Paul Humphrey Band, The Monkey Tree, and Broken Arrow.

Michael Fonfara was a Canadian keyboard player who was most notable for his work as a member of The Electric Flag and Rhinoceros in the 1960s, Rough Trade and Lou Reed's backing band in the 1970s and The Downchild Blues Band, from 1990 to the present. He studied classical piano at The Royal Conservatory of Music. He is a multiple Maple Blues Award winner as Piano/Keyboardist of the year and a Juno Award winner with the Downchild Blues Band. His distinguished musical career was so honoured by the Maple Blues Awards as early as 2000 and a Juno Award in 2014.

The Danks

The Danks are a Canadian indie rock band from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, founded by Brohan Moore and Alec O'Hanley. The current lineup includes lead vocalist Brohan Moore, O'Hanley on guitar and keyboards, Brian Murphy on bass, and drummer Phil MacIsaac. Chris Doiron originally played bass guitar, but was replaced by Andrew MacDonald.
