Donald Leslie Chipp, AO was an Australian politician who was the inaugural leader of the Australian Democrats, leading the party from 1977 to 1986. He began his career as a member of the Liberal Party, winning election to the House of Representatives in 1960 and serving as a government minister for a cumulative total of six years. Chipp left the Liberals in 1977 and was soon persuaded to lead a new party, the Democrats who, he famously proclaimed in 1980, would "keep the bastards honest". He was elected to the Senate on 10 December 1977 and led the party at four federal elections. From 1983 it held the sole balance of power in the Senate.

Jeffrey Michael Tisdel is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Nevada, Reno from 1996 to 1999, compiling a record of 23–22. Tisdel has two stints as the head football coach at Sierra College, a junior college in Rocklin, California, from 2000 to 2005 and from 2007 to 2012. His accomplishments include coaching the Nevada Wolf Pack in its first NCAA Division I-A bowl game victory, in the 1996 Las Vegas Bowl, and leading Sierra to a nation-leading 37-game winning streak between 2002 and 2005. Tisdel was also the first quarterback for Nevada to play in Division I-AA, moving up from Division II in 1978 and the first quarterback to play for Chris Ault, who became a member of the College Football Hall of Fame in 2002. After taking the 2006 season off, Tisdel returned to coaching his Sierra College team which ended the 2007 season ranked fifth in the nation by JCGridiron.com.

He has previously played for Dundee United, Forfar Athletic, Raith Rovers, Derby County and Sporting Kansas City. Russell represented Scotland at under-19 and under-21 level. He was first named in the Scotland squad in 2012, and made his full international debut in November 2014. Russell is the highest-scoring Scottish-born player in MLS history.

The tournament was for the under-20 age group, to complement current youth development strategies, having formerly been an under-19 competition. Players born after 1 January 1998 were eligible to play.
