John R. Stephens is a Canadian Anglican bishop. Since 2021, he has been the tenth bishop of the New Westminster in the Anglican Church of Canada (ACC).
Stephens grew up in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia and was raised in the Anglican Church. He earned an undergraduate degree in science from the University of British Columbia and graduated from the College of Emmanuel and St. Chad in Saskatoon. After ordination, he served a rural three-point parish in the Diocese of Huron.
In 1995, Stephens returned to British Columbia and became rector of St. John the Divine, Squamish. He was appointed rector of St. Philip's Church in Dunbar in 2001 and assumed an additional role as an archdeacon of the diocese. [1] In 2016, Stephens became rector of St. John's Shaughnessy, which was rebuilding the wake of the departure of most of the congregation during the Anglican realignment. [2]
In October 2020, Stephens was elected coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of New Westminster to succeed Melissa M. Skelton. She consecrated him a bishop at Christ Church Cathedral on January 23, 2021, in a mostly unattended service due to COVID-19 restrictions. Stephens was installed as bishop on February 28, 2021. [3]
He is married to Ruth, and they have two adult children. [1]
The Diocese of New Westminster is one of five dioceses of the Ecclesiastical Province of British Columbia and the Yukon of the Anglican Church of Canada. The see city is Vancouver. The current bishop is the Right Reverend John Stephens. He was consecrated as the coadjutor bishop on January 23, 2021, and installed as diocesan bishop on February 28, 2021. The Dean of New Westminster and rector of the cathedral is the Very Reverend Christopher Pappas and the Executive Archdeacon of the diocese is the Venerable Philippa Pride.

Michael Ingham is a retired bishop, theologian in the Anglican Church of Canada. From January 9, 1994 to August 31, 2013, he was the eighth Bishop of the Diocese of New Westminster of the Anglican Church of Canada, located in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.
Peter Elliott is a Canadian priest. He is the former (retired) rector of Christ Church Cathedral and Dean of New Westminster in the Anglican Church of Canada. Elliott grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario. In 1976 he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and philosophy from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. Subsequently, he attended and graduated from the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1981 he was ordained a priest in the Diocese of Niagara. Prior to coming to Vancouver he was Director of Ministries in Church and Society with the Anglican Church of Canada. In 1994, Elliott was made rector of Christ Church Cathedral and Dean of New Westminster. He retired in October 2019 after 25 years.

She was the first woman to be elected a metropolitan and archbishop in Anglican Church of Canada. Skelton was succeeded in her ministry as Bishop of New Westminster by John Stephens on February 28, 2021.

St. John's (Shaughnessy) Memorial Church is an Anglican parish in the Shaughnessy neighborhood of Vancouver. Founded in 1925, the church is part of the Diocese of New Westminster in the Anglican Church of Canada. Once reported to be the largest Anglican church in Canada and a bastion of evangelicalism, most of the congregation and clergy left during the Anglican realignment and the church is today much smaller and aligned with the progressive wing of Canadian Anglicanism.
St. John's Vancouver Anglican Church is an evangelical Anglican church in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was founded in 2011 by the clergy and almost all of the laity of St. John's Shaughnessy after the group left the Anglican Church of Canada over theological and moral issues and the congregation lost a legal battle to keep its building during the Anglican realignment. With more than 700 in regular attendance, it is the largest church in the Anglican Network in Canada, a diocese of the Anglican Church in North America.
