John Douglas Story AO , an Australian businessman, was previously a chairman and/or director of a number of Australian listed corporations.

Story is the grandson of John Douglas Story, a prominent Queensland public servant.

Career

After a career as a lawyer, predominantly with law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Story took on a number of directorships. Story's directorships have included:

John Story was the 13th Chancellor of The University of Queensland from 2009 until 2016. [6] He was preceded by Llew Edwards and succeeded by Peter Varghese. John Story's grandfather, John D. Story was the Vice-Chancellor of The University of Queensland from 1938 to 1960. [7]

Queensland Firebirds Australian netball team

Queensland Firebirds are an Australian netball team based in Brisbane, Queensland. Since 2017 they have played in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship and between 1997 and 2007, they played in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. Firebirds were the most successful team during the ANZ Championship era, playing in five grand finals and winning three premierships, in 2011, 2015 and 2016. They were the only team to win back to back ANZ Championship titles.

University of Queensland Library

The University of Queensland Library, founded in 1910, provides library access to students of the University of Queensland in Brisbane. It developed from a small provincial university library into a major research library. It was first housed in the Old Government House building of George Street from 1911 to 1923. From 1923 to 1948, it was housed in the Art Block of the Central Technical College in George Street, next to the university. In late 1948, the library moved to the new St Lucia campus, residing in the Duhig Building. By 1954, it had already exceeded its capacity.

Peter Bordier Høj is a Danish-Australian academic and vice chancellor of the University of Adelaide. He has previously served as president and vice chancellor of the University of Queensland and the University of South Australia. Educated at the University of Copenhagen, Høj completed a Bachelor of Science where he majored in biochemistry and chemistry, a Master of Science in biochemistry and genetics and a Doctor of Philosophy in Photosynthesis. He has worked in Denmark and Australia as a researcher and published multiple scientific articles. Høj has also served on a number of different company boards in a variety of roles, including current roles on the board of Wine Australia and of the Australian Cancer Research Foundation. In 2017 he was elected chair of the Group of Eight, a lobby group that represents Australia’s research-intensive universities. He was the vice-chancellor of the University of Queensland from 2012-2020.

Maree Therese Smith is an Australian researcher, inventor and innovator based at the University of Queensland. She is executive director of the Centre for Integrated Preclinical Drug Development, and TetraQ, head of the Pain Research Group in the UQ School of Pharmacy, and the inventor and developer of a potential novel treatment for chronic pain, EMA401.

Geoffrey John McLachlan FAA is an Australian researcher in computational statistics, machine learning and pattern recognition. McLachlan is best known for his work in classification and finite mixture models. He is the joint author of five influential books on the topics of mixtures and classification, as well as their applications. Currently, McLachlan is a Professor of statistics within the School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Queensland.

Gabi Simpson Australia netball international

Gabrielle Simpson, also known as Gabi Simpson, is an Australia netball international. Simpson was vice-captain of the Australia team that won the silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Simpson was also a member of the Queensland Firebirds teams that won the 2015 and 2016 ANZ Championships. Since 2017, Simpson has captained Firebirds in Suncorp Super Netball. In 2017 she received the Liz Ellis Diamond award.

Malcolm William Broomhead is an Australian businessman who has held various directorships and senior positions in the Australian engineering, industrial and resources sectors. As of 2018, he is a director of BHP and Chairman of Orica. Journalist Andrew Crook wrote of Broomhead in 2012 that "nobody is more connected in Australian business".
