John Thomas Talley is an American politician and minister who served as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives representing the 33rd district from 2019 to 2024.
Talley was raised in Anadarko,Oklahoma. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in agriculture education from Oklahoma State University–Stillwater,where he was a member of the Oklahoma State Cowboys wrestling team. [1]
Talley became an ordained minister in 1978. He has since worked as the chaplain of the Stillwater Police Department and Oklahoma State Cowboys football team. He was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in November 2018 and assumed office on January 14,2019. He also serves as vice chair of the House Children,Youth &Family Services Committee. [2] In July 2021,Talley was selected to manage an interim House committee tasked with investigating clinical outcomes of patients following legislation that reduced opioid prescribing. [3]
Stillwater is the tenth-largest city in the U.S. state of Oklahoma,and the seat of Payne County. It is located in north-central Oklahoma at the intersection of U.S. Route 177 and State Highway 51. As of the 2020 census,the city population was 48,394. The Stillwater Micropolitan Statistical Area had a population of 78,399 according to the 2012 census estimate. Stillwater was part of the first Oklahoma Land Run held on April 22,1889,when the Unassigned Lands were opened for settlement and became the core of the new Oklahoma Territory. The city charter was adopted on August 24,1889,and operates under a council-manager government system.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys and Cowgirls are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Oklahoma State University,located in Stillwater. The program's mascot is a cowboy named Pistol Pete. Oklahoma State participates at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)'s Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) as a member of the Big 12 Conference. The university's current athletic director is Chad Weiberg,who replaced the retiring Mike Holder on July 1,2021. Oklahoma State has won 55 national championships,including 53 NCAA team national titles,which ranks sixth in most NCAA team national championships. These national titles have come in wrestling (34),golf (11),cross country (5),basketball (2),and baseball (1),and the Cowboys also claim non-NCAA national titles in football (1) and equestrian (1). In addition,Oklahoma State athletes have won 183 individual national titles.
Clem Rogers McSpadden was an American rodeo announcer and politician. A member of the Democratic Party,he served as a U.S. Representative from Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District for one full term from 1973 to 1975. Prior to his election to the U.S. House,McSpadden was a member of the Oklahoma Senate between 1954 and 1972. He was the grandnephew of Oklahoma comedian and actor Will Rogers.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys football program represents Oklahoma State University–Stillwater in college football. The team is a member of the Big 12 Conference and competes at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision level. The Cowboys are led by Mike Gundy,who is in his 20th year as head coach. Oklahoma State plays its home games at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater,Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys wrestling team is the most successful NCAA Division I athletic program of all time in any sport. As of 2023-24,Oklahoma State wrestling has won 34 team national championships,143 individual NCAA championships,and 488 All-American honors. The all-time dual record for the program is 1185-140-23.
Northern Oklahoma College (NOC) is a public community college in Tonkawa,Oklahoma,with additional campuses located in Enid,Oklahoma and Stillwater,Oklahoma. Student enrollment is approximately 2,700. NOC bought the former Phillips University in Enid,Oklahoma,in 1999 and it became the NOC Enid campus.
Michael J. Hunter is an American politician from the state of Oklahoma. Hunter served as the Secretary of State of Oklahoma from 1999 to 2002,having been appointed by Governor of Oklahoma Frank Keating. On November 1,2016,he was appointed to the same post by Governor Mary Fallin. He also served as Special Counsel to the Governor. On February 20,2017,Hunter was appointed Attorney General of Oklahoma to replace Scott Pruitt who resigned to become the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. On November 8,2018,Hunter won election as Attorney General.

They were led by 13th-year head coach Eddie Sutton and played their home games at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater,Oklahoma. They finished the season 22–10,10–6 in Big 12 play to finish in fourth place. The Cowboys lost to Missouri in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament. The team received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 6 seed in the East region. Oklahoma State beat Penn in the opening round,but lost to No. 3 seed and eventual National champion Syracuse in the second round.
