Jonathan Evans (born 25 July 1992) is a Welsh rugby union footballer, who play at scrum half for Ebbw Vale RFC. He also played for the Scarlets, Newport Gwent Dragons and Bath.

Club career

Evans played his junior rugby and also began his senior career at Bargoed RFC, he had also been a member of the Newport Gwent Dragons academy. Before playing for the Dragons he had played for Welsh Premier Division sides Pontypool RFC and Newport RFC. Originally an outside half, Evans move to scrum half at U16 level. [1]

Evans made his professional debut for the Newport Gwent Dragons in a Pro12 match against the Ospreys on 7 May 2010, he was at the time the youngest Dragons player ever at 17. [2]

On 24 February 2015, it was announced Evans would join Premiership side Bath from the start of the 2015–16 season. [3] Evans made his first appearance for Bath as a substitute against Newcastle Falcons on 2 January 2016. He scored his first try for Bath in a 16–14 victory over Worcester Warriors. Evans struggled to get game time, and found himself down the pecking order below Chris Cook and Nikola Matawalu. Evans left Bath after making four appearances in his only season at the club.

On 22 February 2016, it was announced Evans would join Welsh region Scarlets at the start of the 2016–17 season. [4] He was part of the team that won the 2016–17 Pro12 title, coming off the bench in the Grand Final as the Scarlets beat Munster 46–22. [5]

Evans was released at the end of the 2019–20 season. [6] Evans found a career in teacher recruitment after his release, but in November 2021 joined Ebbw Vale RFC, marking a return to competitive rugby. [7] [8]

International career

Evans made two appearances for Wales U18 in 2010, and represented Wales U20 in 2011 and 2012 a two U20 Six Nations and Junior World Championships. [1] [9] [10] [11] [12]

Wayne Evans is a Welsh rugby union footballer who plays scrum half and has gained international honours with Wales under 18s, 21s and Sevens.

Adam Mathias Jones is a Welsh former professional rugby union player who played as a lock. He captained the Wales Under-19 team and earned his first caps for the Wales senior team as a replacement against England and Scotland in the 2006 Six Nations Championship. He began his career with Swansea RFC before a spell in England with Saracens and Harlequins, before returning to Wales with Cardiff RFC. At the start of the Welsh regional era, he signed for the Llanelli Scarlets and played for them for four seasons, before a seven-year spell with the Newport Gwent Dragons. He also made appearances for Llandovery RFC, Carmarthen Quins RFC, Cross Keys RFC and Newport RFC.

Kingsley Jones is a Welsh rugby union coach, currently in charge of the Canadian national team. A former Welsh international player, Jones has played and coached at various levels, from playing at the amateur level to the professional level in Wales and England. He since gone on to become a professional coach at club and international level.

Byron Idris Hayward is a former international rugby union full back who played for Wales and Wales A. He had an impressive debut for Wales scoring three tries in his first international match against Zimbabwe. Hayward caused controversy in 2000 by refusing to play against Scotland A in Bridgend because of the inclusion of foreign players Shane Howarth and Brett Sinkinson. This was in the heat of the Grannygate scandal, both players claimed to have Welsh grandparents that would later be found to be false.

Gareth Maule is a Welsh rugby union player currently playing at Centre. He attended New College School Cardiff and St Albans RC High School. He is 191 cm tall and weighs 95 kg.

Shaun Connor is a former Wales 7s international rugby union player and current backs coach of the Russian National Team. He was part of the Ospreys team that defeated Australia, where he played a crucial role and was named Man of the Match. He has previously played for the Ospreys, being the first back to make 100 appearances for the club, and the Dragons. After retiring he went on to coach the Ospreys Under 20s and also worked with the Dragons as backs coach.

He played for the Ospreys for 10 years before moving to French club Toulon in 2018, but terminated his contract with them in 2020 and agreed a return to the Ospreys; however, he was unable to join the Ospreys immediately and signed for Bath for the remainder of the 2019–20 season before returning to the Ospreys.
