Jonathan Mauri (born January 31, 1984) is a swimmer from Costa Rica. He represented his native country at the 2003 World Aquatics Championships [1] in Barcelona, Spain and was a finalist at the 2003 Pan American Games [2] held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
In 2016 Mauri successfully sued the Costa Rican State for over 233 million Costa Rican Colones due to the Government's denial to award him the Claudia Poll Sports Award, alleging that the denial of this award following his win of the Gold Medal at the Master's Category during the FINA World Masters Championships [3] in 2010 at Gothenburg, Sweden had caused him moral damages, while the same Award had been awarded to Poll herself in recognition of her performance during the same event. Claudia María Poll Ahrens is a former Costa Rican / Nicaraguan swimmer who competed in the 200 m to 800 m freestyle events. She is Costa Rica's only Olympic gold-medalist, having won the country's first Olympic gold medals at the 1996 Olympics in the 200 meter freestyle. She is a multiple national record holder in the freestyle events.

Francis Crippen was an American long-distance swimmer. After being a pool swimmer for most of his career, Crippen made the transition to open water swimming in 2006. In international competitions, Crippen won seven medals, five of which were in the open water and two in the pool. Crippen died during an open water swimming race in the United Arab Emirates in 2010 at the age of 26.
