Jonathan Reyes is a Filipino basketball coach currently coaching Bulacan Kuyas. He was also known by his nickname Budds. He is the father of One Sports analyst and former UP Fighting Maroon Mikee Reyes. [1]

Career

Reyes played for San Beda Red Lions in his collegiate days. He also coached the Red Lions in 2002 until 2003, [2] [3] [4] but his two seasons did not produced a title, even a final four appearance, and replaced by Nash Racela. [5]

Reyes returned to coaching, this time with the Foton Pampanga Tornadoes. [6]

With the formation of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, he joined Bacoor Strikers from 2018, with Marlou Aquino as assistant. [6] He also recruited his son Mikee to the team. [1] [6] In October 2018, he stepped down as head coach and replaced by Leo Isaac, citing differences with management. [7] [8] He then coached the Imus Bandera in 2019. [9] But after a month, he was replaced by Mac Cuan. [10]

He later coached the Mindoro Tamaraws in 2022 until 2023, and the Bulacan Kuyas from 2024. [11]

Jimbo Reyes Aquino is a Filipino professional basketball player, who last played for the Nueva Ecija MiGuard of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). After winning Finals MVP for the San Sebastian Stags in 2009, he played limited minutes in the PBA and also had stints in the MPBL.

The Bacoor City Strikers were a Filipino professional basketball team, based in Bacoor, Cavite. The team last competed in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and played their home games at Strike Gymnasium.

The 2019 MPBL playoffs, also known as the MPBL Datu Cup playoffs, was the postseason tournament of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League's 2018–19 season, the league's second overall, and the first under the 16-team playoff format. The postseason tournament began on March 12, day after the end of regular season on March 11, 2019, and ended at the conclusion of the 2019 MPBL finals. The 2019 MPBL finals saw the Davao Occidental Tigers battled San Juan Knights for the national championship, with the Knights winning in five games, 3 games to 2.

The 2019–20 MPBL season, also known as the MPBL Lakan Season or the Chooks-to-Go MPBL Lakan Season for sponsorship reasons, was the third season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. It was also the last season of the league's semi-professional era, as they would turn professional in December 2021. The regular season began June 12, 2019 and ended on February 12, 2020. The playoffs then began on February 15, 2020, and ended on March 21, 2021 when the Davao Occidental Tigers defeated the defending champion San Juan Knights in four games in the 2021 MPBL finals.

Miguel Antonio "Mikee" Reyes is a Filipino former professional basketball player who is a podcaster, media personality and sports analyst for One Sports. He was selected 24th overall by the TNT KaTropa in the 2016 PBA draft. He played college basketball for the UP Fighting Maroons.

Jaime Vicente "Jayvee" Gayoso is a former Filipino basketball player and sports commentator. He was nicknamed "Mr. Adrenaline".
