Biography
Jonesmann was introduced to Azad and Jeyz by D-Flame in 1992, and founded the crew "Chabs" with Jeyz and Chan in 1994. They were fairly successful and were produced among others by Roey Marquis II. The group disbanded in 2001 because the members wanted to focus on their respective solo careers. In the following year, Jonesmann was featured on releases by Roey Marquis II, Olli Banjo, Jack Orsen, and Azad.
His first solo release was the Best of Mixtape in 2003. One year later, Jonesmann produced a 7 track EP called "Gesucht, Gefunden" together with Pal One, where he first attempted to sing, instead of only rap. In the same year, Jonesmann was signed by Bozz Music and was featured on the sampler BOZZ Music Vol. 1. After another mixtape at the end of 2004, "Macht, Käse, Flows, Cash" (Power, Cheese, Flows, Cash), his first solo album, S.J., and one more mixtape were released in mid-2006.
Gangsta rap or gangster rap, initially called reality rap, is a subgenre of rap music that conveys the culture and values typical of urban gangs, reality of the world and street hustlers. Emerging in the late 1980s, gangsta rap's pioneers include Schoolly D of Philadelphia and Ice-T of Los Angeles, later expanding in California with artists such as N.W.A and Tupac Shakur. Michael Kenji Shinoda is an American musician, rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and graphic designer. He co-founded the rock band Linkin Park in 1996 and is the band's co-lead vocalist, as well as rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, primary songwriter and producer. Shinoda later created a hip-hop-driven side project, Fort Minor, in 2004. He has also served as a producer for tracks and albums by artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Styles of Beyond, and the X-Ecutioners.
Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, known professionally as Nas, is an American rapper and entrepreneur. Rooted in East Coast hip hop, he is regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time. The son of jazz musician Olu Dara, Nas began his musical career in 1989 under the moniker "Nasty Nas", and recorded demos under the wing of fellow East Coast rapper Large Professor. Nas made his recording debut on Professor's group, Main Source's 1991 song "Live at the Barbeque".
Kimberly Denise Jones, better known by her stage name Lil' Kim, is an American rapper. She was born and raised in New York City and lived much of her adolescent life on the streets after being expelled from home. In her teens, she would freestyle rap, influenced by fellow female hip-hop artists like MC Lyte and the Lady of Rage. In 1994, she was discovered by fellow rapper The Notorious B.I.G., who invited her to join his group Junior M.A.F.I.A.; their debut album, Conspiracy, generated two top 20 singles in the United States and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Cynthia Karen Loving, known professionally as Lil' Mo, is an American singer and songwriter. She is best known for her 2001 single "Superwoman Pt. II", featuring then-unknown rapper Fabolous, which has been credited as launching his career. She first gained recognition as Missy Elliott's protégé, of whom featured on Lil Mo's 1998 debut single "5 Minutes" for the Why Do Fools Fall in Love film soundtrack. The following year, Lil' Mo featured alongside Nas, Eve, and Q-Tip on Missy Elliott's 1999 single "Hot Boyz". In 2000, she guest performed on Ja Rule's singles "Put It on Me" and "I Cry", the former of which earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.
Jayceon Terrell Taylor, better known by his stage name the Game or simply Game, is an American rapper. Born in Compton, California, he initially released a series of mixtapes under the wing of fellow West Coast rapper JT the Bigga Figga. After releasing his debut album Untold Story independently in 2004, he was discovered by record producer Dr. Dre and signed to his Aftermath Records label imprint. The Game rose to fame in 2005 following the release of his major-label debut album The Documentary, which peaked the Billboard 200 along with its 2006 follow-up, Doctor's Advocate. The former album received double platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and two Grammy Award nominations—Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for its single, "Hate It or Love It".
