Jong Yong-hyok is a North Korean pair skater. He competed in the 2006 Winter Olympics with partner Phyo Yong-myong, with whom he teamed up in the fall of 2005. They withdrew after the short program. Jong qualified a spot for the Olympics with his previous partner Sung Mi-hyang. However, Sung was not age-eligible for the Olympics, so he switched partners for the Olympics and returned to partnering with Sung after the Olympics.

The 2012 AFC Challenge Cup was the fourth edition of the tournament, an international football competition for Asian Football Confederation (AFC) member nations that are mainly categorized as "emerging countries" in the defunct Vision Asia programme. It took place in Nepal from 8–19 March 2012. Unlike in previous editions of the tournament, there were no automatic qualifiers. Therefore, 2010 champions North Korea, runners-up Turkmenistan, and third-placed Tajikistan had to navigate the qualification phase in order to return to the finals. North Korea successfully defended their title and qualified for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.

Kim Hyok-bong is a retired North Korean table tennis player representing the April 25 Sports Team. He competed at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. At the 2012 Summer Olympics he reached the fourth round, knocking out seeded South Korean Joo Se-hyuk in the third round. He won gold medals in mixed doubles events with Kim Jong at the 2013 World Championships and the 2014 Asian Games. The World Championship gold was the first for DPR Korea since 1977.
Kwon Tong-hyok is a North Korean sport shooter. Kwon represented North Korea at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed in the men's 10 m air pistol, along with his teammate Kim Jong-Su. He finished only in twenty-sixth place by two points ahead of Belarus' Kanstantsin Lukashyk from the final attempt, for a total score of 575 targets.

The 10th Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea was in session from 1998 until 2003. It consisted of 687 deputies, and held six sessions.
The 2013 Hwaebul Cup was the inaugural edition of the Hwaebul Cup football competition celebrating North Korea's Youth Day. The competition was held between 15 and 28 August 2013, with all matches played at the Kim Il-sung Stadium in P'yŏngyang. The competition was arranged in two phases, a group stage followed by a single-elimination play-off semi-finals, and a single-game final.
