Jonida Gashi (born in 1984 in Fier) is an Albanian cultural theorist and senior researcher at the Centre for Art Studies at the Academy of Sciences of Albania. [1]
She completed her MRes and PhD in Humanities and Cultural Studies at the London Consortium, University of London. [2] Gashi is editor-in-chief of the journal Art Studies, published annually by the Academy of Albanological Studies. [3]
As one of the directors of the DebatikCenter of Contemporary Art, [4] Gashi led the open-letter campaign against the demolition of Albanian National Theatre, [5] leading to publications in Albanian, [6] French, [7] Italian, [8] and English, [9] gathering hundreds of signatures. She has linked the artwashing tactics of the Edi Rama government in Albania directly to the eventual destruction of the theater. [10]
Edi Rama is an Albanian politician and painter who has been serving as the 33rd and incumbent prime minister of Albania since 2013 and chairman of the Socialist Party of Albania since 2005. He was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports from 1998 to 2000. First elected mayor of Tirana in 2000, he was reelected in 2003 and 2007.

"Ktheju tokës" is a song by Albanian singer Jonida Maliqi. It was released as a single on 8 March 2019 by Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH) and Universal. The song was composed and written by Eriona Rushiti, and produced by Enis Mullaj. It is musically an authentic and rhythmic Albanian-language folk-electronic ballad backed by traditional Albanian instruments. Lyrically, the song addresses the theme of migration, particularly to that of the Albanian people during the Kosovo War in the late 20th century.

Armando Lulaj is an artist, playwright, filmmaker, and film producer, living and working in Tirana, Albania. His work “constantly negotiates the borders between economical power, fictional democracy and social disparity in a global context.” Lulaj is the founder of DebatikCenter of Contemporary Art. Lulaj has been called “one of the most prominent Albanian artists of his generation.” Since 2022, Lulaj is a member of the art collective Manifesto.

In collaboration with the DebatikCenter of Contemporary Art and ZETA Center for Contemporary Art, the Manifesto art collective has developed a series of projects, Manifesto Hijacking (2022), Manifesto Desertion (2023), and Manifesto Great Wave (2024), which offer a deconstruction of the Albanian art scene and the way it is enmeshed with the power of the Albanian oligarchy.
