Jono Jumamoy (born Jose Jono Jumamoy on November 6, 1986) is the youngest mayor elected in the Philippines history at age 21. [1] The late senator and statesman Ninoy Aquino became the youngest mayor in the Philippines in Concepcion, Tarlac at age 22. [2]

Early life and career

Jumamoy chose to leave his promising pasture at the World Bank and instead went back to Philippines to run as mayor in Inabanga, Bohol on May 14, 2007 elections. He won by over 6,000 votes against his political opponent. [3]

Born to Jose and Maria Socorro Jumamoy, also politicians in Bohol, he finished his elementary and high school education at Holy Spirit School, Grace Christian Military School and Bohol Wisdom School. He entered college at the Centre for International Education in Cebu City, Philippines and later culminated his degree with dual majors in International Business and Management at the Northwood University in West Palm Beach, Florida, USA.

Jumamoy was the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation president of Inabanga in 2002. [4]

The Romblon Provincial Federation of Sangguniang Kabataan(PFSK) is the official association of elected Sangguniang Kabataan presidents in the province of Romblon. A Sangguniang Kabataan is a community council that represents youth in a barangay in the Philippines. They were put "on hold", but not abolished, prior to the 2013 barangay elections. In January 2016, the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act was signed into law, which made changes to the SK and initially scheduled new elections for October 2016. In March 2017, the elections were postponed to May 2018.

Local elections were held in the province of Bohol on May 10, 2010, as part of the 2010 general election. Voters elected candidates for all local positions: a city or town mayor, vice mayor and town councilors, three to four members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the vice-governor, governor, and representatives for the three district of Bohol. Bohol had posted an approximate total of 736,468 eligible voters based on the latest count after the deadline set on October 31, 2009, compared to a total of 695,445 voters in the 2007 election. A total of 610,494, or 82.89%, cast their votes during the election day.
