Josef Lahner is an Austrian para-alpine skier. His guide is Franz Erharter.
Lahner won a silver medal and two bronze medals at the 2019 World Para Alpine Skiing Championships. [1] Lahner and Erharter competed in all five events but were disqualified in the Super-G and Super combined events as they missed the last gate. [2]
Paralympic alpine skiing is an adaptation of alpine skiing for athletes with a disability. The sport evolved from the efforts of disabled veterans in Germany and Austria during and after the Second World War. The sport is governed by the International Paralympic Committee Sports Committee. The primary equipment used includes outrigger skis, sit-skis, and mono-skis. Para-alpine skiing disciplines include the downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom, super combined, and snowboard.
Melissa Perrine is a B2 classified visually impaired para-alpine skier from Australia. She has competed at the four Winter Paralympics from 2010 to 2022. At the 2015 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships, she won three gold, one silver and one bronze medals. At the 2018 Winter Paralympics, she won two bronze medals.
Mitchell Gourley is an Australian Paralympic alpine skier who competed for Australia in the downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom and super combined events at four Winter Paralympics - 2010 to 2022. He was Australian team co-captain with Joany Badenhorst at the 2018 Winter Paralympics. At the 2022 Winter Paralympics, he and Melissa Perrine carried the Australian flag in the opening ceremony. At the 2017 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in Tarvisio, Italy he won the gold medal in the men's Super Combined Standing.
Victoria "Tori" Pendergast is an Australian F58 athletics shot put competitor and LW12.1 classified Para-alpine skier. When she competed at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, she became Australia's first female sit skier at the Winter Paralympics. She competed in two events, finishing seventh in women's slalom sit-ski and tenth in the women's giant slalom sit-ski. She also won a silver and a bronze medal in the slalom and super-G at the 2013 North America Cup, and a bronze medal in the giant slalom at the 2013 IPC World Cup in Thredbo.
Laurie Stephens is an alpine monoskier who has spina bifida. She has won multiple medals for the United States at the Paralympics. She has also had success at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup.
Millicent Genevieve Knight is a British skier and student who competes at international level for ParalympicsGB in alpine skiing in the slalom, giant slalom Super-G, super combined and Downhill events with a sighted guide, Brett Wild. When Knight was one year old, she contracted an illness, diagnosed at age three, which resulted in the loss of most of her vision by the age of six. She joined the Great Britain Paralympic skiing team in 2012, and progressed to compete at international-level events. Knight was the British flagbearer at Sochi in 2014 – her debut Paralympics - where, at the age of 15, she was the youngest person ever to compete for ParalympicsGB at the Winter Games. In the same year Knight also became an Honorary Doctor of the University of Kent.
Menna Fitzpatrick MBE is a British alpine skier. She is visually impaired having only 5% vision and formerly skied with guide Jennifer Kehoe until 2021. They competed at the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang in March 2018 where they took four medals, including a gold in the slalom, making Fitzpatrick Team GB's most decorated Winter Paralympian.
Major Jennifer "Jen" Kehoe is an author and former professional skier, formerly competing with visually impaired athlete Menna Fitzpatrick as her sighted guide on the IPC World Cup circuit and has represented Great Britain winning four medals including gold at the Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympic Games in South Korea becoming Britains most decorated winter Paralympians. She was a British Army Officer.
Niels de Langen is a Dutch para-alpine skier. He won two medals in alpine skiing at the 2022 Winter Paralympics.
Thomas Walsh is an American para-alpine skier. Born and raised in Vail, Colorado, he starting skiing at the age of 2. He began his racing career with the Ski and Snowboard Club Vail at the age of 5.

Sarah Billmeier is an American para-alpine skier. She represented the United States in alpine skiing at the 1992, 1994, 1998 and 2002 Winter Paralympics. In total she won seven gold medals, five silver medals and one bronze medal.
Walter Lackner is an Austrian para-alpine skier. He represented Austria at the 2002 Winter Paralympics and at the 2006 Winter Paralympics.
Christian Lanthaler is an Italian para-alpine skier. He represented Italy at seven Winter Paralympics: in 1992, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014. In total he won two silver medals in 2002: in the Men's Downhill LW2 event and in the Men's Super-G LW2 event.
Romain Riboud is a French para-alpine skier. He represented France at four Winter Paralympics: in 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014. In 2002, he won the silver medals in the Men's Giant Slalom LW3,5/7,9 and the Men's Super-G LW3,5/7,9 events.
Fabrizio Zardini was an Italian para-alpine skier. He represented Italy in cross-country skiing at the 1992 Winter Paralympics. He then moved to alpine skiing and represented Italy in alpine skiing at the 1998, 2002 and 2006 Winter Paralympics. In 2002, he won the gold medal in the Men's Super-G LW11 event and the bronze medal in the Men's Downhill LW11 event. Zardini died on 30 April 2024, at the age of 57.
Juergen Egle is an Austrian para-alpine skier. He represented Austria in alpine skiing at four Winter Paralympics: in 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010. In total he won one gold medal, three silver medals and two bronze medals.
The 2021 World Para Snow Sports Championships was an international disability sport competition held in Lillehammer, Norway from 8 to 23 January 2022. It was the inaugural edition of the World Para Snow Sports Championships with para-alpine skiing, para cross-country skiing, para biathlon and para snowboard being held. It was scheduled for 7 to 20 February 2021 but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Norway. The rescheduled event retained 2021 in its name.
Shona Brownlee MBE is a British skier and Royal Air Force Corporal. She won two medals at the 2021 World Para Snow Sports Championships, and competed at the 2022 Winter Paralympics.
