Kazi Muyeed Shahriar Shiraz Joy, better known as Joy Shahriar, is a Bangladeshi singer, songwriter, composer, and publisher. [1] [2]

Music career

He began singing at the age of four with a children's cultural organisation named Shurjamukhi. He began singing professionally with his band Nirjhor in 2000. They released their debut album, Shopnoghuri in 2006, followed by Brishtishohor in 2010. His first studio album as a singer-songwriter was Shotti Bolchhi (2009), followed by Akhoni (2011), Thik Ebhabei (2014), and Lapatta…(2019). He has also been a part of a musical project named The Brotherhood Project since 2012. They have two studio albums: The Brotherhood Project (2012), and Ta Na Na Na (2015). [3]

Songwriting

Since 2014, Joy Shahriar has produced more than hundred songs as a songwriter and record producer for artists of Bangladesh and India including Subir Nandi, Nachiketa Chakraborty, Kumar Bishwajit, Rupankar Bagchi, Silajit, Bappa Mazumder, Fahmida Nabi, Tahsan, Elita Karim, Parvez, Iman Chakraborty, Imran, Minar, Konal, Kishore, Abanti Sithi, Ronti Das, and Rehaan Rasul. Books Publication

As an author Joy published several books since 2006. He is known for his literature work for children like Alabuligulia (2007), Feltu Boltu (2008), Jhompu Crickeler (2009), Madam Khotmote (2013), Zebra Elo Shohore (2020) and Hatirjheele Choruibhati (2023). His lyric book Shotti Bolchhi published in 2021. [4] Joy wrote the biography of Legendary Bangladeshi singer Kumar Bisjwajit named Ebong Bishwajit (2022) and compiled a biography book on another legendary rock Icon of the country Ayub Bachchu named "Rupali Guitar" (2023). Television

He worked as the anchor of a musical show Addar Gaan at national television channel Maasranga TV from 2012 to 2018. Apart from that he works for various TV, Radio shows as a host since childhood. Joy Shahriar also works as a visual director. He directs more than 50 music videos and documentaries.

Entrepreneurship

Joy Shahriar is the founder of Bangladesh Singer Songwriters Hub, which is the only platform working for the betterment of country’s singer songwriters. Joy Shahriar is the founding organizing secretary of Singers Association of Bangladesh (SAB) since 2021. He is the cultural secretary of Lyricists Association of Bangladesh (LAB) known as Geetikobi Shongho Bangladesh (2020-2021) & (2022–present). As a music producer he runs one of the major record labels of the country named Aajob Records since 2013. Apart from that his other ventures as an entrepreneur are Shopnobaj (2006) which is a T-Shirt Brand and Aajob Karkhana which is a media production house and artist management agency. From 2020, he is working as a publisher through his latest venture named Aajob Prokash.

Personal life

His father Kazi Shiraz [6] (1 November 1947 – 31 August 2017) was a freedom fighter and journalist, and his mother Shahriar Akhter Hossain is a retired professor of botany and former Member of the Parliament of Bangladesh. His spouse Jesmin Nahar is a government employee.

Ekattorer Jishu is a 1993 Bangladeshi film based on the Bangladesh Liberation War. The film is directed by Nasir Uddin Yusuf and is based on the novel Ekattorer Jishu by Shahriar Kabir. The film stars Piyush Bandyopadhyay, Humayun Faridi, Zahir Uddin Pial, Abul Khair, Anwar Farooq, Kamal Bayazid and Shahiduzzaman Selim in the lead roles. Joy Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi film actor. He started his career in 2012 with the film Ek Joban. He is best known for Hitman, Chini Bibi, Ajob Prem and Antor Jala.
