The JuJu Mob (originally credited as Chief Kamachi & The JuJu Mob) is a four-member underground hip hop group originating from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that was founded in 2004. [1] The four founding members of the JuJu Mob are Reef the Lost Cauze, Chief Kamachi, Charon Don and State Store. [1]

Career

Beginnings (2003–2004)

Before the formation of the group, members of Juju Mob had been known for their frequent collaborations on each other's albums. It was only in 2004 that Chief Kamachi decided that they should form together to work as a group. Charon Don, Reef the Lost Cauze and State Store were all fond of the idea and in the end; JuJu Mob was formed.

No Chorus/My Squad (2005)

Initially, the group released their first two single No Chorus & My Squad. [2] This however was released as a 12-inch vinyl and featured production work from DJ Mighty Mi, DJ Kwestion, E. Dan, Franchise, Eyego and was released via Good Hands Records & Eastern Conference Records.

Black Candles and hiatus of the group (2005–2007)

Black Candles was the first studio album released by JuJu Mob, it was released shortly after the No Chorus Vinyl on May 17, 2005. It was announced that JuJu Mob would be working on their second studio album released in 2007, however the group announced that they would be working on their solo careers and other work. Reef the Lost Cauze worked on albums along with Army of the Pharaohs and Snowgoons.

Chief Kamachi feud with Army of the Pharaohs (2008–2011)

In 2008, Kamachi left Army of the Pharaohs (an underground super-group of which he and Reef were members) and released a diss track titled "First Warning" taking aim at the group's founder Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks and member Apathy. According to Apathy, it started over an e-mail Apathy didn't respond to from Kamachi. What was written in the e-mail hasn't been disclosed. [3] In a 2008 interview which has in parts or its entirety circulated on the internet since, Kamachi cites personal resentment towards Apathy as the reason for their feud and him leaving AOTP, but also the fact that Paz didn't invite Kamachi on AOTP tours, even though he is a founding member. [4]

In October 2011, Reef spoke out saying; "From day one, anyone will tell you when they ask you how I've been about the beef, I've always been like, 'Yo this shit's whack, I just want it to stop,'" he said. "I always use this analogy that literally for me, it's like a little brother caught between older brothers fighting (..) I just wish everyone would make peace and keep it moving. We're older, we have lives, we have kids and I just wish that everyone could sit down and have some beers and smoke and eat and make peace." [5] The feud has died down but both sides still haven't come to an agreement.

Reformation of the group and #777 (2012-Present)

Late 2012, it was announced that there could be a possibility of the group to reform however it wasn't confirmed until 2013 by Chief Kamachi. On November 1, 2013, Chief Kamachi shared via his Facebook page that a new JuJu Mob album is on the way. [6] It is rumoured to be called #777 after a single Kamachi released on July 2, 2013 titled "777" [7] It is likely to be their second studio album.

Jus left the group shortly after, but returned in late 2006 and began working on the sixth studio album, A History of Violence. AOTP's affiliations and member roster has changed several times since its formation.

The founding member Mario Collazo (Planetary) was then attending 10th grade, while the other two, Richard Cruz (Jedeye) and Marcus Albaladejo, were in 8th grade.

Servants in Heaven, Kings in Hell is the fifth studio album by hip hop group Jedi Mind Tricks. It was released September 19, 2006 through Babygrande Records. The first single, "Heavy Metal Kings", featuring Ill Bill of La Coka Nostra, was released in early August through iTunes and a limited edition vinyl pressing. Additional guest appearances on the album are provided by Shara Worden of My Brightest Diamond, Sean Price, R.A. the Rugged Man, Block McCloud and Army of the Pharaohs members Chief Kamachi and Reef the Lost Cauze.

<i>The Torture Papers</i> (album) 2006 studio album by Army of the Pharaohs

The Torture Papers is the debut album by underground hip hop collective Army of the Pharaohs, released March 21, 2006 on Babygrande Records. The crew was established in 1998 by Jedi Mind Tricks frontman Vinnie Paz, and originally featured Jedi Mind Tricks, Chief Kamachi, 7L & Esoteric, Virtuoso and Bahamadia. Virtuoso and Bahamadia later split from the group, which now consists of Paz, Kamachi, 7L & Esoteric, Apathy, OuterSpace, King Syze, Reef the Lost Cauze, Des Devious, Celph Titled and Faez One. An Army of the Pharaohs collaboration album was rumored to be in the works for years, but was often delayed due to separate projects and internal problems, however a mixtape titled After Torture There's Pain was released in 2007.

Albaladejo is one half of the rap duo OuterSpace and is a member of Army of the Pharaohs. Crypt the Warchild is the older brother of rapper King Syze, who is also a member of Army of the Pharaohs.

Sharif Talib Lacey, better known by his stage name Reef the Lost Cauze, is an underground hip hop artist based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Cauze became well known on the underground circuit towards the late 1990s and more so in the early 2000s, making his mark by winning many battle competitions within New York and interstate and displaying rare skills of what many called true MCing.

Good Hands Records is an independent hip hop record label founded in 2002 by DJ Truth aka Charley Greenberg and Art Beeswax aka Larry Maley. In 2006, Good Hands secured a distribution deal with Traffic Entertainment Group and released Camp Lo's "Black Hollywood", Kurupt Presents Tangled Thoughts, "Philly 2 Cali", Killah Priest's "The Offering", Charon Don and DJ Huggy's, "Art of Life", and Dev Rocka's "The Night Shift" in 2007.

<i>Ritual of Battle</i> 2007 album by Army of the Pharaohs

Ritual of Battle is the second studio album by underground hip hop collective Army of the Pharaohs. Released on September 25, 2007 under Babygrande Records, the album features group members Vinnie Paz, Jus Allah, OuterSpace, Chief Kamachi, Reef the Lost Cauze, Esoteric, Celph Titled, King Syze, Des Devious, Doap Nixon, Demoz, and King Magnetic. Although he was prominently featured on the group's debut album The Torture Papers, Apathy does not appear on Ritual of Battle. While still a member of the group, he explains on a MySpace blog that he was recording with Styles of Beyond in Los Angeles during the Army's album recording sessions. The rapper recorded for one song, titled "A.O.T.P.", produced by Snowgoons, but it was not included on the album. This song was included on the Apathy compilation Hell's Lost & Found: It's The Bootleg, Muthafu@kas! Volume 2.

Kenneth Greene, better known by his stage name Doap Nixon, is an American hip hop artist and rapper who is a former member of supergroup Army of the Pharaohs. He has collaborated with a variety of underground hip hop artists and released his debut full solo album, Sour Diesel in 2008.

The album features members Vinnie Paz, Apathy, Blacastan, Block McCloud, Celph Titled, Crypt The Warchild, Demoz, Des Devious, Doap Nixon, Esoteric, King Magnetic, King Syze, Planetary, Reef the Lost Cauze and Zilla, with a guest appearance by Lawrence Arnell. The only member who did not appear on the album was Jus Allah, also affiliated with Jedi Mind Tricks; it was later confirmed that Allah had left both groups.
