Juan Carlos Baumgartner (born February 27, 1972) is a Mexican architect, founder and CEO of the Chicago-based international architecture firm SPACE.
Juan Carlos Baumgartner graduated from the College of Architecture of Mexico’s National University and has diplomas in interior design from the UNAM’s College of Architecture, Art History from Berkley University in California, and a postgraduate degree in Industrial Design from Domus Academy in Milan.
In 1999 he founded the renowned architecture firm SPACE [1] in the city of Chicago.
From its very beginning, the firm, under Baumgartner’s leadership, has gained notoriety for its commitment with the environment and developing sustainable projects, which got him and his team the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification, awarded by the US Green Building Council. The Google Mexico offices, [2] the EFIZIA tower, for which Baumgartner received a commendation in the 2009 MIPIM Architectural Review Future Projects Awards, [3] the Chapultepec Polanco tower, the Moras 850 project (certified Gold LEEDS), and the MSN Mexico offices. [4]
Baumgartner has taught at top universities such as TEC Monterrey, Universidad Iberoamericana, Universidad Anahuac, and UNAM in Mexico, and Virginia Tech and MIT in the United States.

Andrés Mignucci Giannoni FAIA was a Puerto Rican architect and urbanist of Corsican ancestry. His work received recognition for its integration of the disciplines of architecture, urban design and landscape architecture in the creation of public spaces with a sense of place, human scale, and environmental responsibility. In 2005 Andrés Mignucci was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects. In 2012, he was awarded the Henry Klumb Award by the Puerto Rico College of Architects. In 2019, Mignucci received the Distinguished Professor Award by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, and was named Arts and Literary Arts Scholar in Residence at the Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Center in Bellagio, Italy.
Carlos Chanfón Olmos was a Mexican architect and professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, known for his research and publications of various topics in the field of architecture under the UNAM imprint. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Colima in 2001.
Agustín Landa Verdugo was a Mexican architect and urban planner, born in Mexico City. He studied architecture in the National University of Mexico. In 1945 he established a firm with his brother Enrique, with whom he designed hundreds of public and private buildings during four decades of partnership. Javier Senosiain is a Mexican architect known to be one of the first architects to design organic architecture in Mexico. He is a graduate from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and has served as an architecture professor at the university. Throughout his career he has worked with different areas of architecture, but he specialized in Organic Architecture. He is the founder of the Organic Architecture firm in Mexico City, which has been responsible for designing offices, houses, factories, and co-ops. Gabriela Carrillo is a Mexican architect and partner of the practice Taller Rocha + Carrillo |. Carrillo is also a founding member of the architectural design collective C733. She graduated from Faculty of National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 2012 she partnered with Mauricio Rocha and his firm Taller de Arquitectura Mauricio Rocha + Gabriela Carrillo. She has presented lectures and has led workshops at universities in Mexico, the United States, and South America. Her work has been published nationally and internationally.
Beatriz Peschard Mijares is a Mexican architect. She founded the architecture firm Bernardi Peschard Arquitectura in 2000, focusing mostly on residential and corporate projects. Her designs, such as the AA315 House in Mexico City, use motifs from architects such as Mies van der Rohe. Many of Peschard’s projects, including the AA315 House, incorporate the surrounding landscape with a modernist architectural design. Peschard serves on the editorial board of Architectural Digest México.
