José Emilio Pacheco Berny was a Mexican poet, essayist, novelist and short story writer. He is regarded as one of the major Mexican poets of the second half of the 20th century. The Berlin International Literature Festival has praised him as "one of the most significant contemporary Latin American poets". In 2009 he was awarded the Cervantes Prize for his literary oeuvre.

Tomás Segovia was a Mexican author, translator and poet of Spanish origin. He was born in Valencia, Spain, and studied in France and Morocco. He went into exile to Mexico, where he taught at the Colegio de México and other universities. Segovia founded the publication Presencia (1946), was director of La Revista Mexicana de Literatura (1958–1963), formed part of the magazine Plural, and collaborated in Vuelta. He was married to the writer Inés Arredondo from 1953 to 1965.
Colombian literature, as an expression of the culture of Colombia, is heterogeneous due to the coexistence of Spanish, African and Native American heritages in an extremely diverse geography. Five distinct historical and cultural traditions can be identified, with their own socioeconomic history: the Caribbean coast, Greater Antioquia, the Cundinamarca-Boyacá Highlands, Greater Tolima and the Western Valley. Colombia produced one of the richest literatures of Latin America, as much for its abundance as for its variety and innovation during the 19th and 20th centuries. Colombian intellectuals who forged the literature of this period also contributed decisively to the consolidation of Latin American literature.

Her awards and honors include second place from the Premio Adonáis de Poesía for "Los buenos días" (1954), Adoptive Daughter of the city of Cádiz (2005), Meridiana Prize of the Andalusian Institute of Women (2005), included in the section "Own Names" of the Instituto Cervantes, and Author of the Year by the Andalusian Center of Letters of the Junta de Andalucía (2015). The city council of her hometown annually awards the Pilar Paz Pasamar Prize for short stories and poetry by women.
