Juana Guarderas Albuja (born 24 June 1964) is an Ecuadorian theatre, cinema, and television actress. [1] She has been the director of the Quito Comedy Club since 1990. [2]
Juana Guarderas was born in Quito on 24 June 1964, the daughter of Raúl Guarderas Guarderas and María del Carmen Albuja, and lived in Machachi, Ecuador for 11 years. [2] She began acting at age 17 in the Comedy Club of Quito production of La lección de la Luna. [1] Guarderas would study theatre in the United States of America. She would appear in plays such as Las Marujitas , Monólogos de la Vagina, Diario íntimo de una adolescente, and the films Entre Marx y una Mujer Desnuda (adaption from the novel), Un titán en el ring, Sé que vienen a matarme y María, and llena eres de gracia. [3] Guarderas also played in the TV sitcom Dejémonos de vainas , [1] and now appears as part of a YouTube comedy project, Enchufe TV. [4]
Guarderas is the mother of two children. [5] She is also the vice president of the Association of Theater Workers, and a member of the Assembly of Artists of Ecuador. [6]
She has been awarded the José Martínez Queirolo Award from the House of Ecuadorian Culture and Revista Hogar's Rosa de Plata award. [6] [7]
Alejandro Carrión Aguirre was a poet, novelist and journalist. He wrote the novel La espina (1959), the short story book La manzana dañada (1983), and numerous poetry books. As a journalist he published many of his articles under the pseudonym "Juan Sin Cielo." In 1956 he founded, along with Pedro Jorge Vera, the political magazine La Calle. He directed the literary magazine Letras del Ecuador. He received the Maria Moors Cabot prize (1961) from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism as well as the Ecuadorian National Prize Premio Eugenio Espejo (1981) for his body of work. He was the nephew of Benjamín Carrión and Clodoveo Carrión.
María Dhialma Tiberti was an Argentine writer. Married to the well known scientist Gregorio Baro, she studied at the Escuela Normal Nº1 “Mary O’Graham” and later on, literature and history, at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata. She was responsible for the Del Bosque editions, composed of works of other well-known writers, such as Raúl Amaral, Horacio Ponce de León, Ana Emilia Lahite, and María de Villarino, who were all part of the so-called Generation del 40’. She also worked for several newspapers and specialized magazines, and was a member of the Argentine Society of Writers as well as of a large number of cultural and social institutions. She won some prizes, among which was the Consejo del Escritor for her short story Niña en la ventana, and another for her novel Estimado señor Gris.

Qué tan lejos is a 2006 film directed by Ecuadorian filmmaker Tania Hermida. The film is a road movie co-produced by Ecuador and Spain, and it stars Tania Martinez and Cecilia Vallejo as a Ecuadorian student and a Spanish tourist, respectively, that met each other in a bus and take rides together when the roads are blocked because of a strike. Hermida had the plot idea in 1997 but only started to produce the film in 2003. Filming was entirely done in Ecuador during 2005, while post-production finished in 2006.
