Judith Livers Brewer (born c.1949) was the first woman in the United States to become a career firefighter and the first American woman to serve as a battalion chief. [1] [2]
In 1974, Brewer, then Judith Livers, joined the Arlington County Fire Department in Arlington, Virginia making her the nation's first female career firefighter. She was assigned to Fire Station 4 located in Arlington's Clarendon neighborhood. [2] [3]
Brewer retired in 1999 at which time she was serving at the nation's first woman battalion chief, a rank she earned after 17 years of service. [2] [3]
Ila Jane Borders, is a former left-handed pitcher in college and independent professional baseball player. As a female pitcher in men's leagues, Borders achieved numerous baseball milestones at the college and professional levels, including being the first female pitcher to start and win a men's professional baseball game. In four seasons from 1997 to 2000, she appeared in 52 games and posted a record of 2–4 and 6.75 earned run average while recording 36 strikeouts.

The tenth season premiered on September 22, 2021. The eleventh season premiered on September 21, 2022.

Amber Bowman is a female firefighter who has captured the world championships at the World Firefighter Challenge in 2012 and 2013. Of note, she captured gold in all four disciplines of the event: female individual, female tandem, coed tandem and relay events. Such an accomplishment makes her the first female to have won the gold in all four categories and the first competitor to have won consecutive golds in all four categories. As a rookie at the 2011 FireFit championships, she won world championships in the female individual and female tandem combat challenges. This was the first time in the history of the competition that a female rookie won a world championship.
Sally D. Murphy is a retired colonel who served as a United States Army Aviator. She was the first female U.S. Army helicopter pilot to graduate from flight school at Fort Rucker, Alabama on June 4, 1974. She served as a leader for units within the 330th Army Security Agency Company, 1st Infantry Division, the 62nd Aviation Company, and the 78th Aviation Battalion. In 2009, Murphy received the U.S. Army Freedom Team Salute Veteran Commendation to commemorate her 27 years of service and her place in military history.

Sarah Lee Odend'hal Fain was a Virginia schoolteacher and Democratic politician who became one of the earliest female members of the Virginia General Assembly and later assisted with New Deal reforms in Washington, D.C., North Carolina, Texas and California. In 1923, Fain and fellow schoolteacher Helen Timmons Henderson became the first two women elected to the Virginia House of Delegates.
Katherine "Kay" Keating was an American military servicewoman, pharmacist, female veterans activist and business owner. She served with the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) in World War II and subsequently with the Navy Medical Service Corps. She achieved several milestones during her military career, including being the first woman pharmacist in the US Navy, the first woman in the US Navy to advance in rank from seaman to captain, and the first woman pharmacist to attain the rank of captain. After her retirement from active service, she operated a bed and breakfast and horse ranch in Beulah, Colorado. She was inducted into the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame in 2008.

Shazia Parveen (born-1990s) from Vehari, Punjab is the first female firefighter in Pakistan. She joined rescue 1122 emergency services in 2010. She has received nationwide recognition and has been featured in international news as well.
