Julia de la Cruz Mena Rivera (born 3 April 1950 [1] ) is a Nicaraguan politician.
Her profession was as a school teacher.
She was a deputy in National Assembly of Nicaragua from 1990 to 1995 [1] and also served as first vice president of National Assembly. She was a member of the Independent Liberal Party.
In 1995 National Assembly elected her as Vice President following resignation of Virgilio Godoy for the remainder of the term until January 1997. [2]
Later she joined Sandinista National Liberation Front,and has served as their deputy,and also as Mayor of Granada as a Sandinista. [3] [4]
JoséDaniel Ortega Saavedra is a Nicaraguan politician and the 58th president of Nicaragua since 2007. Previously,he was leader of Nicaragua from 1979 to 1990,first as Coordinator of the Junta of National Reconstruction from 1979 to 1985,and then as the 54th President from 1985 to 1990. During his first term,he implemented policies to achieve leftist reforms across Nicaragua. In later years,Ortega's left-wing radical politics cooled significantly,leading him to pursue pro-business policies and even rapprochement with the Catholic Church. However,in 2022,Ortega resumed repression of the Church,and has imprisoned prelate Rolando JoséÁlvarez Lagos.

Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the National Assembly. The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.
Violeta Barrios Torres de Chamorro is a Nicaraguan former politician who served as the 55th President of Nicaragua from 1990 to 1997. Miriam Argüello Morales was a politician from Nicaragua. A lawyer by training,she was the first woman to become president of the National Assembly of Nicaragua,where she served as a deputy for 22 years. She was elected Assembly president in 1990,defeating Alfredo César Aguirre though he had the support of Nicaraguan President Violeta Chamorro. However,César prevailed the following year,replacing Argüello in 1991.
