Julian John Amos (born 1 October 1945, Melbourne) [1] was a Labor Party politician in the Australian state of Tasmania during 1976-1986 and 1992-1996. He was a Government Minister with portfolios of Primary Industry, Energy and Forests during 1979-1982. He was first elected to the Hobart based seat of Denison in 1976. He was defeated at the 1986 election. He stood again, successfully, at the 1992 election but was defeated in 1996.
At the 1979 election, Amos was one of three candidates found to have exceeded their spending limits and the election was declared void. [2] At the subsequent 1980 by-election he was re-elected.
Amos earned a PhD in botany from the University of Tasmania. [3]
Amos has served on the board of Hydro Tasmania. [3] He is Chairman of the Forest Industries Association of Tasmania, [4] a position he has held since 2006. [5]
The Australian Democrats is a centrist political party in Australia. Eric Abetz is an Australian politician who has been a Senator for Tasmania since February 1994, representing the Liberal Party. He was the Minister for Employment and the Leader of the Government in the Senate in the Abbott Government from 2013 to 2015. He previously also served as Special Minister of State in the Howard Government from 2001 to 2006 and as Minister for Fisheries, Forestry and Conservation from 2006 to 2007.

Anthony Maxwell Rundle AO was the Premier of the Australian State of Tasmania from 18 March 1996 to 14 September 1998. He succeeded Ray Groom and was succeeded himself by Jim Bacon. He is a Liberal who held the seat of Braddon between 1986 and 2002. A former journalist, he is married to Caroline Watt. He has twin daughters from his first marriage.
Raymond John Groom is an Australian lawyer and former sportsman and politician, representing the Liberal Party in the Federal Parliament 1975–84 and the Tasmanian Parliament 1986–2001. He was a Federal and state minister for a total of 13 years. He was Premier of Tasmania from 1992 to 1996 and also served as Deputy Premier and Attorney-General.
Nicholas John Sherry is a former Australian politician who served as a member of the Australian Senate for the state of Tasmania from July 1990 until June 2012, representing the Australian Labor Party. Sherry was sworn in as the Assistant Treasurer on 9 June 2009, after serving as the first Australian Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law. Sherry was the first Assistant Treasurer from Tasmania.
Douglas Ackley Lowe AM was the 35th Premier of Tasmania, from 1 December 1977 to 11 November 1981. His time as Premier coincided with controversy over a proposal to build a dam on Tasmania's Gordon River, which would have flooded parts of the Franklin River. The ensuing crisis saw Lowe overthrown as Premier and resign from the Labor Party, acting as an independent for the remainder of his political career.
