The British Basketball League, often abbreviated to the BBL, is a men's professional basketball league in Great Britain and represents the highest level of play in the country. The league is contested by 11 teams, with representation from both England and Scotland. The BBL runs three additional knockout competitions alongside the BBL Championship; the BBL Cup and the BBL Trophy, and the end-of-season Play-offs.
The Worcester Wolves are a professional basketball club in Worcester, England. The club was formed in 2000, and since 2006 have competed in the British Basketball League, the top tier of British basketball. Since 2013, the Wolves have played their home games at the 2,000-capacity Worcester Arena.

University of Tartu basketball team, is a professional basketball team based in Tartu, Estonia. The team plays in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League. They play their home games at the University of Tartu Sports Hall.
Gert Kullamäe is an Estonian basketball coach and a former professional basketball player who currently coaches Estonian team Pärnu Sadam. Kullamäe mostly played at the shooting guard position and was a great 3-point shooter. As a player he is a seven-time Estonian Champion and Soviet Union, Lithuanian, Belgian and Dutch champion.
Valmo Kriisa is an Estonian former professional basketball player. He played at the point guard and shooting guard positions. Kriisa started his senior club career with "KK Tartu" team in 1990 and after 96–97 season he moved to "Nybit". He spent the 2000–01 season in Sweden with Södertälje BBK. Then Kriisa returned to Estonia, signed for two seasons with "BC Kalev" and won the Estonian Championship titles in 2002 and 2003. On seasons 2003–2006 he played for the Dutch Eredivisie team Hanzevast Capitals. During this period he won the Dutch Championship in 2004. After three seasons in The Netherlands, Kriisa came back to Estonia and joined BC Kalev/Cramo. He spent three seasons with Kalev winning one Estonian Championship. In 2007 he was named the Estonian Basketball Player of the Year. Kriisa spent the 2009-10 season with BC Rakvere Tarvas helping the team to the Estonian league finals for the first time. Though Tarvas lost to Tartu Ülikool/Rock, Kriisa was named the KML Most Valuable Player. In the 2010-11 season Kriisa played for TTÜ/Kalev. Since 1995, Kriisa is a member of the Estonia national basketball team and was also a member of the Estonian EuroBasket 2001 squad.
Kristjan Kangur is an Estonian professional basketball player for Pärnu Sadam of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League. He is 2.03 m tall, and he can play at both the small forward and power forward positions.
Janar Talts is a former Estonian professional basketball player who is the sporting director of University of Tartu basketball team. Standing at 2.07 m, he played at the power forward and center positions. He represented the Estonian national basketball team internationally.
Rait Keerles is a retired Estonian professional basketball player. Keerles started his professional career in 1997, when he signed with BC Kalev. He has also played for Canon ENM and BC Tallinna Kalev before signing with BC Kalev/Cramo. With the team he won four Estonian Cups and four Estonian Championship gold medals. From 2009–2011 Keerles was the captain of the team. In July 2011, Keerles signed with Gloria Giants Düsseldorf of the German 2. Bundesliga. After the season Keerles decided to return to his former club BC Kalev/Cramo. For the 2013–14 season he signed with Rakvere Tarvas but left the team with mutual consent to play for CS Energia Rovinari in Romania. For the 2014–15 season he returned to Estonia to play his last professional season for TYCO Rapla. He has also been a member of the Estonia national basketball team in 2002–03 and 2008–09 seasons.
Kristjan Makke is an Estonian professional basketballer. He is currently playing for TTÜ KK at the center/forward position. Makke started his senior club career at the age of fifteen with "BC Kalev" in 1996. After that he attended high school and college in the United States. In 2001, he moved to Tallinna Kalev. He played there until December 2002 and then moved to Ehitustööriist where he spent the next season also. In 2004–05 Makke played for Audentese Ülikool and then signed with Nybit. After three seasons in the team Makke joined TTÜ KK. He is currently the captain of the team.

The regular season commenced on 25 September 2009, when Milton Keynes Lions claimed the first win of the season with a 94–81 victory in the opening game against Worcester Wolves.

The season featured 12 teams from across England and Scotland, including new entrant Birmingham Knights. East London Royals and Essex Leopards were both due to become the 13th and 14th League members respectively, but after deferring their original entries from the 2012–13 season for a season, both franchises withdrew their applications to join the BBL due to financial constraints.
