Jure Godler (born 24 March 1984) is a Slovenian writer, actor, composer and comedian. He is best known for his impressions on the Slovenian National Television programme Hri-Bar. He has also performed in America at The Improv in Los Angeles. [1]

Jure Robič was a Slovenian cyclist and a soldier in the Slovenian Army. He became prominent for his multiple wins in the men's solo category of Race Across America (RAAM). He died on 24 September 2010 in a head-on collision during training. He was descending on his bike on a narrow mountain forest road in Plavški Rovt near Jesenice in Slovenia and hit an oncoming car.

Anže Kopitar is a Slovene professional ice hockey centre and captain for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). The 11th overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Kopitar became the first Slovene to play in the NHL upon making his debut in 2006. Kopitar has spent his entire NHL career with the Kings, has led the team in scoring in all but two seasons and is fourth in franchise history in points, goals, and assists, scoring his 1,000th career point in 2021. Following the 2015–16 season, he was named the Kings' captain. Noted for both his offensive and defensive play, Kopitar was awarded the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the best defensive forward in the NHL in 2016, as well as the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy for gentlemanly play the same year. He won his second Selke trophy in 2018.

Aleksander "Sasha" Vujačić is a Slovenian former professional basketball player. He was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 2004 NBA draft with the 27th overall pick. In the 2007–08 season, Vujacic set the Lakers record for the best three-point field goal percentage (.437) in a single season. In the 2009 and 2010 seasons, he won the NBA championship with the Lakers. Vujacic is also a two-time Turkish Basketball League All-Star and a Turkish Basketball League MVP.

The Slovenia men's national basketball team represents Slovenia in international basketball competitions, and is managed by the Basketball Federation of Slovenia. Zoran Janković is a Serbian-Slovenian businessman and politician. He came to prominence in 1997 as the president of the Slovenian retail company Mercator. From October 2006 to December 2011, he was mayor of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. In October 2011, he established the Positive Slovenia party, which won the plurality of votes at the early Slovenian 2011 parliamentary election. His function as a mayor ceased on 21 December 2011, when he became a deputy in the National Assembly. After he failed to be elected as the prime minister in the National Assembly, he was re-elected as the mayor of Ljubljana and retook the position on 11 April 2012. He is the first mayor of Ljubljana to have served two terms since the end of World War II.

Slovenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Cvet z juga" written by Andrej Babić. The song was performed by Alenka Gotar. Slovenian broadcaster Radiotelevizija Slovenija organised the national final EMA 2007 in order to select the Slovenian entry for the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland. The national final consisted of two semi-finals and a final where the winner was selected over two rounds of public voting. The top two entries in the first round competed in the second round where "Cvet z juga" performed by Alenka Gotar was eventually selected as the winner.
