Jurong Island is an island located to the southwest of the main island of Singapore. It was formed from the amalgamation of seven offshore islands, the islands of Pulau Ayer Chawan, Pulau Ayer Merbau, Pulau Merlimau, Pulau Pesek, Pulau Pesek Kechil, Pulau Sakra, Pulau Seraya, Pulau Meskol, Pulau Mesemut Laut, Pulau Mesemut Darat and Anak Pulau. This was done through Singapore's land reclamation efforts. Land reclamation on Jurong Island was completed on 25 September 2009, 20 years earlier than scheduled. Pulau Buaya was joined to Jurong Island via reclamation in 2010. Jurong Island forms a land area of about 32 km2 (12 sq mi) from an initial area of less than 10 km2 (4 sq mi), and is the largest of Singapore's outlying islands.
A coal-fired power station or coal power plant is a thermal power station which burns coal to generate electricity. Worldwide there are about 8,500 coal-fired power stations totaling over 2,000 gigawatts capacity. They generate about a third of the world's electricity, but cause many illnesses and early deaths, mainly from air pollution.

The Tuoketuo Power Station is the largest coal-fired power station in the world. The plant is located in Togtoh County, Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China. The plant is estimated to have been one of the ten most carbon emitting coal-fired power plants in the world in 2018, at 29.46 million tons of carbon dioxide, and relative emissions are estimated at 1.45 kg per kWh. The plant was commissioned in November 1995 by the Tuoketuo Power Company, which currently owns and operates the power station.
The Hongshi Dam is a gravity dam on the Second Songhua River located 30 km (19 mi) east of Huadian in Jilin Province, China. The primary purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power generation and its power plant has an installed capacity of 200 MW. Construction on the dam began in 1982 and the reservoir began to fill in November 1985. The first generator was operational in December 1985 and the last in October 1987. The 46 m (151 ft) tall dam creates a reservoir with a normal storage capacity of 1,630,000,000 m3 (1,321,463 acre⋅ft). The dam is named after the town of Hongshi, located 3 km (2 mi) downstream. The Baishan Dam is located upstream and the Fengman Dam downstream.

The Kajiwa Dam is a concrete-face rock-fill dam on the Muli River near Kajiwa in Muli Tibetan Autonomous County, Sichuan Province, China.
Emba Hunutlu power station is a 1320 MW coal fired power station in Turkey in Adana Province. As of 2022 it is the largest Chinese foreign direct investment in the country. Despite opposition from many environmental organisations the plant was started up in 2022 and burns Russian coal as it is cheaper than other coal. The plant is less than 2 km from another coal-fired power station, İsken Sugözü.
