For Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, none of the country's competitors advanced past their individual heats. In overall standings, Akcayli had the highest 2012 Olympic finish for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines when he placed 45th in the men's 50 metre freestyle.
Laos competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London when the event took place from 27 July to 12 August 2012. It was the nation's eighth overall appearance following their Olympic debut in 1980. At the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires Yang won bronze in the 50 metre freestyle event in 25.47, silver in the 100 metre freestyle event in 54.43 and silver in the 200 metre freestyle event in 1:58.05, as well as gold in the 4 x 100 metre relay event and gold in the mixed 4 x 100 metre medley relay event.
