The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam is an Indian regional political party in the state of Tamil Nadu. K. P. P. Samy was an Indian politician who served as Minister for Fisheries in Tamil Nadu state of India and as a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Thiruvottiyur. He was a Member of Tamil Nadu State Legislative Assembly as a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam DMK candidate from fishermen-dominated Thiruvottiyur in 2016 election. He was also elected as MLA of Tiruvottiyur in 2006 election. He served as Minister for Fisheries including Fisheries Development and Fisheries Corporation at Thirteenth Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly under the Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. Karunanidhi in the Tamil Nadu state of India. He was Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam state Fisheries wing Secretary. He was born in Chennai on 1 July 1962. He died due to illness on 27 February 2020 at the age of 57.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">1957 Madras Legislative Assembly election</span>

The second legislative assembly election to the Madras state was held on 31 March 1957. This was the first election held after the linguistic reorganization of Madras state in 1954. Indian National Congress and its leader K. Kamaraj won the election, and defeated its rival Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. In 1954, due to the resignation of C. Rajagopalachari, for his controversial Kula Kalvi Thittam, the leadership of Congress was contested, between K. Kamaraj, and C. Subramaniam. Eventually, K. Kamaraj, won the support of the party, was elected leader and chief minister of Madras State in 1954. In a surprise move, he appointed both M. Bhaktavatsalam and C. Subramaniam, in his cabinet, allowing great unity amongst Congress, that ruled the state of Madras, for the next decade. This election saw future DMK leaders, M. Karunanidhi and K. Anbazhagan winning their first MLA seat in the legislative assembly.

Anitha R. Radhakrishnan is an Indian Tamil politician, Minister of Tamilnadu and Member of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elected from Tiruchendur constituency as AIADMK candidate in 2001,2006 and as DMK candidate in 2009(Bye-election),2011,2016 and 2021. He was also former Minister for Animal Husbandry and Minister for Housing & Urban Development in the 2001 AIADMK government.

By-elections to nine state assembly constituencies were held in Tamil Nadu, in four separate phases. Election for Thirumangalam was held on 9 January and for Bargur, Thondamuthur, Ilayankudi, Cumbum, and Srivaikuntam constituencies on 18 August. Also, election took place for Vandavasi and Tiruchendur constituency on 19 December 2009 and finally for Pennagaram constituency on 27 March 2010. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) defeated All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Thirumangalam in the first phase and kept the winning momentum in the following general election.

A. Asokan, also called Nagai Asokan, is an Indian Tamil politician and was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate from Tiruvarur constituency in the 1996 and 2001 elections. He was appointed as DMK Youth wing Deputy Secretary and Member of Executive committee Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in 2000.

R. S. Raja Kannappan, formerly known as S. Kannappan, is an Indian Tamil Politician and Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and the Khadii and Village Industries currently and also former Minister of Transport, Nationalised Transport, Motor Vehicles Act in the period 2021- March 2022 and also former Minister of Public Works, Highways and Electricity during 1991–1996. He joined the party DMK in Feb. 2020.

S. Syed Ghouse Basha is a politician from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He belongs to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). K. Kuppan is an Indian politician and was a member of the 14th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Thiruvottiyur constituency. He represented the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party.

R. Kumaraguru is an Indian politician from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Ulundurpet constituency. And Third time Winner of Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly in ulundurpet constituency.He later contested the Ulundurpet assembly constituency from 2021 to 2026 on behalf of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam against DMK and lost by a margin of 5,256 votes and 2.17%.

N. Ramakrishnan is an Indian politician and a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Cumbum constituency. He represents the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party and has previously represented the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK).

T. C. Vijayan is an Indian politician and was a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate from the Thiruvottiyur constituency in the 1996 election.

E. K. Duraiswamy was elected to the state of Tamil Nadu Member of Legislative Assembly from the Gudiyatham constituency in the year 1971 election. He was a candidate of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party. He was the First MLA from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Gudiyatham Constituency. He got 34954 votes and succeeded D.A. Adimoolam with 16374 votes.
