KPN Tower is a 96.5 metre tall office building in Rotterdam (a city in the Netherlands). It was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano and construction began in 1998. The building was officially opened by its owner KPN on September 28, 2000. The concept and design of the motion graphic light installation is from Studio Dumbar.

XS4ALL was an Internet service provider (ISP) in the Netherlands. It was founded in 1993 as an offshoot of the hackers club Hack-Tic by Felipe Rodriquez, Rop Gonggrijp, Paul Jongsma and Cor Bosman, while based in Amsterdam. It was the sixth provider in the Netherlands and the second company to offer Internet access to private individuals. Initially only offering dial-in services via modem and ISDN, it later expanded to offer dial-up access as well as ADSL, VDSL, and fiber-optic (FTTH) services as well as mobile internet. The name is a play on the English pronunciation of access for all.

The U-52 class was a class of four ocean-going submarines or U-boats planned for the Austro-Hungarian Navy during World War I. The submarine design was based on the A 6 proposal submitted by Stabilimento Tecnico Triestino (STT) as part of a Navy design competition. STT, under its wartime name of Austriawerft, began construction on the first two boats in 1916, but neither boat was launched or completed before the end of the war. Both incomplete submarines were scrapped after the war ended. Neither of the third and fourth submarines was ever laid down.
Pactya or Paktye was an ancient Greek city located in ancient Thrace, on the Thracian Chersonesus. It is cited in the Periplus of Pseudo-Scylax, in its recitation of the towns of the Thracian Chersonesus, along with Aegospotami, Cressa, Crithote and then Pactya, situated 36 stadia from Cardia. It is said that Miltiades founded it. Strabo places it on the Propontis between Crithote and Macron Teichos. According to Herodotus, Miltiades the Elder ordered a wall built between Cardia, which was on the coast of Gulf of Melas and Pactya, which was on the Propontis side, to prevent invasion of the Chersonesus by the Apsinthii. Alcibiades retired here the Athenians had for the second time deprived him of the command. It was a member of the Delian League. Pliny the Elder points out that both Cardia and Pactya later joined to form Lysimachia.

The KPN-Zendmast Waalhaven, also known as Communication Tower, is a 191.5 metres (628 ft) self-supporting telecommunications tower located in Rotterdam in the Netherlands that was built in 1962. It is the tallest structure in Rotterdam and one of the tallest structures in the Netherlands. The tower is made of reinforced concrete with a metal transmitter at the top and at least one observation deck about halfway up.

French submarine Alose (Q33) (“Shad”) is a Naïade-class submarine of the Romazotti type. She was built for the French Navy at the beginning of the 20th century. Alose remained in service until just prior to the outbreak of World War I.
Sorghvliedt Castle is a building in Belgium with a history dating back to the 16th century. It was originally a farm building called Wickeleynde owned by the merchant Jean Plaquet and his wife Maria Leydeckers. In 1660, it came into the hands of the du Bois family. From 1745 to 1750 it was completely rebuilt by Arnold du Bois. The Rococo structure was designed by the architect Jan Pieter van Baurscheit the Younger (1699–1768). The castle and the surrounding park were purchased by the town of Hoboken in 1937. It became the town hall in 1940. From 1983, following the extension of Antwerp, the castle became the district hall of Hoboken.
