Kajiado West constituency is an electoral sub-county In Kajiado County Kenya. The current member of parliament is George Sunkuiya who came after winning 2017 election over Moses Ole Sakuda. [1] Kajiado West has five wards, [2] They include Keekonyokie, magadi ward, iloodokilani, Ewuaso oo nkidong'i ward and mosiro ward. [3] Each of which has a member of the County Assembly. This constituency has a population of about 104,300 people and 52,453 registered voters. [4] Kajiado west has major towns such as Ngong which also include Ngong Hills, part of Kiserian and the Kiserian dam and isinya.

Kajiado County County in Kenya

Kajiado County is a county in the former Rift Valley Province of Kenya. It has a population of 687,312 and an area of 21,292.7 km². The county borders Nairobi and extends to the Tanzania border further south. The county capital is Kajiado but the largest town is Ngong. Its main tourist attraction is wildlife.

Keekonyokie ward is an electorate ward that was established in 2012 after devolution as per the Kenyan constitution of 2010 and was ranked as number 187 in Kenyan constituencies. Keekonyokie has a population of approximately 33,562 and was devolved from Kajiado North Constituency after devolution. Moses Saoyo became the second MCA for keekonyokie after Hon George Sunkuya is the current member of county assembly for Keekonyokie after the 2013 general elections. Keekonyokie is the most dense ward and the smallest in Kajiado West constituency with an area of 807 km² and has Kisamis near Kiserian as the administration centre for the ward.

Ngong is a town near the Ngong Hills along the Great Rift Valley within Kajiado County, located in the southwest of Nairobi, in southern Kenya. The word "Ngong" is a Maasai word meaning "knuckles", referring to the 4 hill peaks of the ridge, which stands alone rising from the plain around Nairobi. The Ngong Hills, from the eastside slopes, overlook the Nairobi National Park game reserve and, off to the north, the city of Nairobi. The Ngong Hills, from the westside slopes, overlook the Great Rift Valley dropping over 4,000 feet below, where nomadic Maasai live.

Kiserian Place in Rift Valley Province, Kenya

Kiserian is a settlement in Kenya's Rift Valley Province, kajiado county. Kiserian town is bordered by Ongata Rongai, Ngong Town, Enoomatasiani town and Kisamis town. It lies at the foot of the Ngong Hills along Magadi Road just adjacent to the kiserian dam. There is a famous Maasai community around Kiserian town and small Maasai villages called Olteyani and Olooseos. Kiserian has several primary schools and secondary schools and a few higher education institutions. In the language of the Maasai "Kiserian" means "a place of peace".

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is an independent regulatory agency that was founded in 2011 by the Constitution of Kenya. The Commission is responsible for conducting or supervising referendum and elections to any elective body or office established by the Constitution, and any other elections as prescribed by an Act of Parliament. It was created in a provision of the 2010 constitution and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act. Its mandate includes; "the continuous registration of voters and revision of the voter’s roll, the delimitation of constituencies and wards, the regulation of political parties process, the settlement of electoral disputes, the registration of candidates for elections, voter education, the facilitation of the observation, monitoring and evaluation of elections,the regulation of money spent by a candidate or party in respect of any election, the development of a code of conduct for candidates and parties, the monitoring of compliance with legislation on nomination of candidates by parties."

Moses ole Sakuda is a Kenyan politician who was elected Member of Parliament for Kajiado North Constituency on a TNA ticket in a by-election in September 2012.In 2013 he was elected As the first Member of Parliament for Kajiado West Constituency He had contested the seat, against former incumbent George Saitoti, running for ODM in the 2007 Kenyan general election. He has a master's degree in Educational Leadership and Divinity and previously served as Director of Programmes and Projects in the Ministry of Energy. On 12/12/12 President Kibaki Appointed him to his Cabinet as an Assistant Minister for Regional Development.

Sub-Counties of Kenya

Sub-counties are the decentralised units through which county governments of Kenya will provide functions and services. Except for the parts which fall under urban areas, sub-counties will coincide with the constituencies created under article 89 of the Constitution of Kenya. Sub-counties will be headed by a sub-county administrator, appointed by a County Public Service Board.

Local elections were held in Kajiado County to elect a Governor and County Assembly on 4 March 2013. Under the new constitution, which was passed in a 2010 referendum, the 2013 general elections were the first in which Governors and members of the County Assemblies for the newly created counties were elected.

Kiserian Dam

Kiserian dam is a water catchment project by the government of Kenya located in Kiserian Town, Keekonyokie Ward. The dam construction started in 2008 and ended 2013.The dam has a height of 18 metres and a capacity of 1.8 million litres. This project was set up in order to overcome water challenges in Kajiado county and parts of Nairobi county. The dam has a daily supply capacity of 15,700 cubic metres and is currently supplying domestic water in constituencies in Kajiado north and kajiado west. It's under maintenance by Oloolaiser water and sewage company who are also in charge of water and sewage treatment and supply. The dam has a water treatment storage of 5000 m³ and serves over 253,000 residents. Kiserian dam relies on four seasonal rivers, two which originate from Ngong Hills.
