Kaktus is a ground-based reconnaissance and jamming system designed to conduct electronic warfare in the field of electronic reconnaissance (ESM) and electronic countermeasures (ECM).
The prototype KAKTUS set in the KAKTUS-MO version (operational module) was developed in the years 2007–2010 by a consortium consisting of: the Institute of Communication of the Faculty of Electronics of the Military University of Technology, the Military Institute of Communications and the companies WITPiS, KenBIT, Thales, Rodhe&Schwartz, Bonn Elektronik, Poynting, Transbit, WAREL, Jelcz S.A. and WZM S.A. The aim of the program was to construct a modern automated system for conducting electronic warfare (EW) by WE battalions at the operational level in the HF range (1-30 MHz) and at the tactical level in the HF, VHF, UHF range (1-3000 MHz). The system meets the requirements of the modern battlefield, NATO standards meet the requirements of interoperability with automated command systems used in the Polish Army and NATO troops. In 2017, the procedure for the development and delivery of two serial Kaktus MO reconnaissance and jamming systems for the Polish Armed Forces was initiated. [2]
The automated reconnaissance and jamming system KAKTUS-MO is designed to conduct electronic warfare in the scope of ESM and ECM. Reconnaissance tasks consist in gathering information on the composition and dislocation of the enemy group, as well as the method of their actions. In terms of countermeasures, the KAKTUS system is designed to conduct offensive electronic operations consisting in emitting disruptive electromagnetic energy on the operating frequencies of the enemy's receiving devices. The system ensures cooperation with the Automated Command System of the Land Forces and interoperability with similar NATO command systems. [3] [4] [5]

Signals intelligence (SIGINT) is the act and field of intelligence-gathering by interception of signals, whether communications between people or from electronic signals not directly used in communication. As classified and sensitive information is usually encrypted, signals intelligence may necessarily involve cryptanalysis. Traffic analysis—the study of who is signaling to whom and in what quantity—is also used to integrate information, and it may complement cryptanalysis.
Electromagnetic warfare or electronic warfare (EW) is warfare involving the use of the electromagnetic spectrum or directed energy to control the spectrum, attack an enemy, or impede enemy operations. The purpose of electromagnetic warfare is to deny the opponent the advantage of—and ensure friendly unimpeded access to—the EM spectrum. Electromagnetic warfare can be applied from air, sea, land, or space by crewed and uncrewed systems, and can target communication, radar, or other military and civilian assets.
In NATO, a standardization agreement defines processes, procedures, terms, and conditions for common military or technical procedures or equipment between the member countries of the alliance. Each NATO state ratifies a STANAG and implements it within its own military. The purpose is to provide common operational and administrative procedures and logistics, so one member nation's military may use the stores and support of another member's military. STANAGs also form the basis for technical interoperability between a wide variety of communication and information systems (CIS) essential for NATO and Allied operations. The Allied Data Publication 34 (ADatP-34) NATO Interoperability Standards and Profiles which is covered by STANAG 5524, maintains a catalogue of relevant information and communication technology standards.
The Polish Air Force is the aerial warfare branch of the Polish Armed Forces. Until July 2004 it was officially known as Wojska Lotnicze i Obrony Powietrznej. In 2014 it consisted of roughly 26,000 military personnel and about 475 aircraft, distributed among ten bases throughout Poland.
Electronic counter-countermeasures (ECCM) is a part of electronic warfare which includes a variety of practices which attempt to reduce or eliminate the effect of electronic countermeasures (ECM) on electronic sensors aboard vehicles, ships and aircraft and weapons such as missiles. ECCM is also known as electronic protective measures (EPM), chiefly in Europe. In practice, EPM often means resistance to jamming. A more detailed description defines it as the electronic warfare operations taken by a radar to offset the enemy's countermeasure.
ORP Kontradmirał Xawery Czernicki is a mine countermeasure forces command vessel of the Polish Navy. The ship's design was based on a hull of the 130 class degaussing station planned by the Construction Bureau of the Refurbishing Shipyard in Gdańsk. The hull was ordered by the Russian Navy, but the contract was halted and it was decided to complete the ship for the Polish Navy. She was named after Rear Admiral Xawery Czernicki. The name is often written in a short form Kontradmirał X. Czernicki, even on the vessel's boards.

The Jednostka Wojskowa Komandosów, commonly called JWK and formerly known as 1 Pułk Specjalny Komandosów, is one of six special forces units currently operating within Poland's Centrum Operacji Specjalnych - Dowództwo Komponentu Wojsk Specjalnych. The 16th Electronic Warfare Squadron is an active United States Air Force unit. It is assigned to the 350th Spectrum Warfare Group at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The squadron began as the 16th 16th Aero Squadron and redesignated several times over its history with the 16th Aero Squadron, 16th Reconnaissance Squadron, and the 16 Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron being the major redesignations.
The KTO Ryś is 8x8 multi-role military vehicle produced by Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne S.A., a Polish Armaments Group company. The vehicle was developed from the chassis and drive train of the OT-64 SKOT armored personnel carrier.
The 42d Electronic Combat Squadron is a United States Air Force unit. Its current assignment is with the 55th Electronic Combat Group at Davis–Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona as a geographically separated unit from its parent wing, the 55th Wing at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. The squadron is the Air Force's sole Lockheed EC-130H Compass Call formal training unit.

ORP Flaming was a Polish base minesweeper from the Cold War era, one of 12 ships of Projekt 206F, rebuilt between 2000 and 2001 into a minehunter. The vessel measured 58.2 meters in length, 7.97 meters in width, and had a draft of 2.14 meters, with a full displacement of 470 tons. It was armed with three twin-mounted 25 mm 2M-3M automatic guns and depth charges, and was also equipped to carry and deploy naval mines.
