Kalki is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language short film, directed by Dhilip Kumar and written by film critic Baradwaj Rangan. Produced by Prateek Chakravorty and Shruti Nallappa under the banner Pramod Films, the film stars Kishore and Yasmin Ponnappa in the lead roles. The film has music composed by Girishh G., with cinematography handled by Vijay Kartik Kannan, and edited by A. Sreekar Prasad. The film released on 31 May 2017. [1] [2]

Premise

A woman named Kalki (Yasmin Ponnappa) is introduced in the beginning of the film leaving the audience wondering who she is. A scientist, Kishore (Kishore), is on a journey to solve one of the greatest mysteries of the universe. While doing so, he falls in love with Radhika (Yasmin Ponnappa). However, Radhika has a secret that Kishore doesn't know about.

Reception

S. Srivatsan of India Today gave the film three out of five stars and called the film as an "engaging watch for its plot and characters", further praising Yasmin Ponnappa's performance in particular. [4] On the other hand, Anupam Kant Verma of Firstpost gave the film a rating of two-and-a-half out of five and stated that "the film meanders through its long runtime, dancing around the themes it should have explored in order to service a mystery that leaves a lot to be desired". [5]

It is a remake of the Bengali-language film Pasher Bari (1952) based on a short story of the same name by Arun Chowdhury starring Bhanu Bandyopadhyay and Sabitri Chatterjee. The film stars Sunil Dutt and Saira Banu. Kishore Kumar, Mukri, Raj Kishore and Keshto Mukherjee played the supporting roles. Mehmood as the South Indian musician and rival to Sunil Dutt is among the highlights of the film. Indiatimes Movies ranked the film amongst the "Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films". Music was composed by R. D. Burman. Kumar sang for himself while Manna Dey sang for Mehmood. Many of the scenes were shot in Brindavan Gardens located near the city of Mysore.

Mumbai Xpress is a 2005 Indian black comedy film directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao and produced by Kamal Haasan. It stars Kamal Haasan himself in the lead role alongside Manisha Koirala. The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja, while Siddharth Ramaswamy and Ashmith Kunder handled the cinematography and editing respectively. The film was simultaneously made in Tamil and Hindi languages. The lead pair, as well as Sharat Saxena, Ramesh Aravind, Hardik Thakar, and Dheena, were retained for the Hindi version.
