Kamal Prasad Chaulagain is a Nepalese politician. He was elected to the parliament in 1991, then belonging to the Samyukta Janamorcha Nepal. When the Samyukta Janamorcha Nepal split in 1994, he sided with the group of Nirmal Lama (the other, more militant, section would form the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)).

He contested the 1994 legislative election in the Ramechap-2 constituency, coming second with 7215 votes. [1]

In 1995 Chaulagain deserted the SJM and joined the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist). [2]

When the CPN(UML) split in 1998, Chaulagain joined the break-away Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist-Leninist). He became a Central Committee member of CPN(ML). [3] When CPN(ML) reunified with CPN(UML) in 2002, he rejoined CPN(UML) and became a Central Committee member of the party. [4]

On November 8, 2002, Chaulagain resigned from CPN(UML). [5] [6] A few days after leaving CPN(UML), he was appointed by King Gyanendra as Minister for Labour and Transport Management as well as Minister for Population and Environment in the cabinet led by Lokendra Bahadur Chand. [7]

Chaulagain is the Chief Adviser of the National Integrated Study and Research Centre of Nepal, an organization that maintains links with North Korea. [8]

Salim Miya Ansari is a Nepalese politician. In the 1994 election he was elected to the Pratinidhi Sabha as the candidate of the Communist Party of Nepal from the Bara-4 constituency. Ansari won with 20148 votes against 16145 votes for Pharmulaha Mansur of the Nepali Congress. Ansari served as Minister of Forest and Soil Conservation in the CPN(UML) government formed in 1994. When the CPN(UML) was divided in 1998, Ansari joined the Communist Party of Nepal (ML), and later became Minister of Tourism in the coalition government. When CPN(ML) and CPN(UML) reunited, Ansari again became a CPN(UML) leader.

Dhana Raj Acharya is a Nepalese politician, businessman and philanthropist. He is currently serving as the 16th mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City. Acharya announced his candidacy under the Communist Party of Nepal party for the mayoral election of Pokhara at the 2022 local election. He won the election with 58,893 votes. Previously, he has held various positions such as the general secretary and national president of Nepal Book and Business Association, executive member of Pokhara Industries and Commerce Association, and part of the high-level book policy drafting & textbook pricing committee as an expert member.
