Kamla Abou Zekry (born January 8, 1974) is an Egyptian television and film director who directed well-known movies and TV series such as Bent Esmaha Zaat, Segn El Nisaa, and Wahed Sefr. She has taken part in many international and national film festivals, including the Cairo International Film Festival, the Dubai International Film Festival, and the Venice Film Festival. Her films have also been screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
Abou Zekry was born in Cairo, Egypt. She graduated from the High Cinema Institute, and started her film career by collaborating with Nadel Galal on 131 Ashghal in 1993. [1]
Zekry has collaborated with screenwriter Mariam Naoom on several TV series. A Girl Named Zat (2013) was an adaptation of Sonallah Ibrahim's 1992 novel Zaat . Women's Prison (2014), based on a play by Fathia al-Assal, was shot in Qanater Prison. [2]
Abou Zekry was quick to respond to the January 25 Revolution. 18 Days was a collaboration with Mariam Abou Auf, daughter of Egyptian actor and composer Ezzat Abou Aouf, [3] while God's Creation followed the story of a girl selling tea on the street who joins the revolution. [4]
A Day for Women was the opening film at Cairo Film Festival in winter 2016. [5]
Halim is a 2006 Egyptian film about the Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez. Production started in 2005 with Ahmed Zaki in the title role, but the actor died prior to the film's completion, so his son filled in several scenes. The film was released in July 2006 with Mona Zaki, Sulaf Fawakherji, directed by Sherif Arafa, written by Mahfouz Abd El-Rahman, music by Ammar El Sherei and produced by Good News 4 Film & Music Company. It participated out of the competition at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.

Mohamed Ezzat Ahmed Shafiq Abou Aouf was an Egyptian actor and composer. Abou Aouf obtained his bachelor's degree in medicine. He was a member of the rock band Les Petits Chats. He later joined Black Coats, and in the late seventies founded The FourM. He debuted in 1992 in Ice Cream in Gleam with Egyptian singer Amr Diab, starring in more than 100 films over the course of his career. Abou Aouf has also acted as director of the Cairo International Film Festival for seven years.
