Politics of Bangladesh takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic, whereby the Prime Minister of Bangladesh is the head of government, and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The Constitution of Bangladesh was written in 1972 and has undergone seventeen amendments.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a major political party in Bangladesh. Founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi president Ziaur Rahman, with a view of uniting people with a nationalist ideology, BNP later came out as one of the two most dominant parties in Bangladesh, along with its archrival Awami League. Initially being a big tent centrist party, it moved towards more right-wing politics later.
The Bangladesh Awami League, often simply called the Awami League or AL, is one of the major political parties in Bangladesh. The oldest existing political party in the country, the party played a large role in achieving Bangladeshi independence both before and after the Bangladesh Liberation War. The Jatiya Party is a political party in Bangladesh. It is currently the main opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad, against the Awami League. The current chairman of the party is Ghulam Muhammed Quader. On 3 January 2019, the party announced its decision to join the Bangladesh Awami League-led Grand Alliance after having been in opposition for the previous parliamentary term. However, the party backtracked the next day and announced that it intended to remain part of the opposition. Currently, it holds Rangpur out of Bangladesh's 12 city corporations. The current chairperson of the party is Ghulam Muhammed Quader MP.
Moudud Ahmed was a Bangladeshi lawyer and politician. He was a standing committee member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Ahmed was elected as a Jatiya Sangsad member total five times from Noakhali-1 and Noakhali-5 constituencies.
Mohammed Nasim was a Bangladesh Awami League politician who served as Bangladesh's minister of home affairs and minister of health and family welfare during 1999–2001 and 2014–2019, respectively. He was a 6-term Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Sirajganj-1 and Sirajganj-2 constituencies. He was a presidium member of Awami League and the spokesperson of the 14-party alliance.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is a Bangladeshi politician. He has been the secretary general of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) since 2016. He was a member of the parliament for Thakurgaon-1 constituency from 2001 to 2006. In that term, he was also appointed as the Minister of State in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and later Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
Ruhul Quddus Talukder "Dulu" is a Bangladeshi politician, lawyer, former deputy minister, and member of parliament representing the Natore-2 constituency. He is the organising secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Dulu was born in Natore Sadar Upazila, Natore District. He was a regular practitioner lawyer. Along with his legal career, he was also active in politics. In 1977, he joined the BNP's student organisation, Chhatra Dal.
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was another landslide victory for the Awami League-led Grand Alliance led by Sheikh Hasina. The elections were marred by violence, and were widely considered by opposition politicians and the international community to be rigged.
Magura-2 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad of Bangladesh since 2008 by Biren Sikder of the Awami League.
Zahid Maleque is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and former minister of health and family welfare. He is the incumbent member of parliament from the Manikganj-3 constituency.

Shifuzzaman "Md." Shikhor is a Bangladeshi politician who is the former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Magura-1 constituency. He is connected to the politics of Bangladesh Awami League. His father was Mohammad Asaduzzaman, an MP of Magura-2 constituency and his sister Kamrul Laila Jolly was also an MP.
Mohammad Asaduzzaman was a Bangladeshi politician who was elected four times as a Jatiya Sangsad member. His son Saifuzzaman Shikhor is the incumbent MP of Magura-1 constituency and his daughter Kamrul Laila Jolly was also a former member from the women's reserved seat.
Mohammad Yunus was a politician of Bangladesh Nationalist Party and then MP of Comilla-14 and Comilla-5 constituencies.
Mohammed Shahabuddin is a Bangladeshi jurist, civil servant, and politician who is the 16th and incumbent President of Bangladesh. He was elected unopposed in the 2023 presidential election in the nomination of the ruling Awami League. Prior to his presidency, he served as a district and sessions judge and a commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission from 2011 to 2016.
